My alarm has started going off usually about 5 mins after locking the car.  Horn sounder and faint power sounder.  Unlock the car and silence power sounder then re-lock and all ok then.

Very annoying.

Where should i start looking?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Towbar wiring
« on: 04 December 2007, 16:34:17 »
I need to fit a towbar to my facelift estate.  That's not a problem, however for the wiring, do i just scotchlok (yuck) into the existing loom / plug or should I invest in one of those fancy new multiplex systems?
If I go the old fashioned route, does anyone have a list of what to connect to? (12N only)

All advise gratefully received.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CDC2 getting forgetfull
« on: 05 July 2007, 23:21:08 »
My multichanger has started getting forgetfull about where it was on which track of which disc, and so returns to track 1 disc 1 most of the time when i switch the ignition on.

Changed both the head unit and the CDC2 the other day, and the same thing is still happening  :(  This pair used to be ok.
There must be some commonality, but if it was losing power to the changer then surely it would be asking for the code every time.

Any thoughts?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CDR500 / CCR600 question
« on: 10 April 2007, 11:02:00 »
Does anybody know if all CDR500 or CCR600 head units will work with steering wheel controls?
Just picked an omega up fitted with a CR300 unit so no display and works rubish.  This is to go into a minifacelift CDX.  Someone seems to have removed the CDC2  multichanger, but just fitting a cd/radio in the dash would be fine.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Other types of cd changer
« on: 05 October 2006, 15:49:23 »
Does anybody know if any other models of Blaupunkt cd multichanger will plug and play into an Omega? (other than the CDC2) as there are quite a lot of other models selling on ebay.

Anybody got one for sale?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Unlocking Blaupunkt CDC
« on: 04 September 2006, 13:52:28 »
My new barge came complete with a 6 disc multichange in the boot, however, some muppet has lost the code or used up all the goes as it says 0 SAFE when changed to cd mode.

What is my best and cheapest way of getting it going again?

Omega General Help / 0335 error code and poor starting
« on: 10 September 2009, 20:28:30 »
The old mans '97 2.0 is being a bugger to start and when paperclipped gives 0335 Incorrect RPM Signal.

Blond moment, but this is the crank sensor and not the cam sensor isn't it?

(6 months without a Mig and i've forgotten everything!)

Omega General Help / 4 pot cam cover question
« on: 29 March 2009, 21:47:51 »
Quicky on behalf of the old man about his 2.0.
Plug wells are full of oil, so i'm assuming the breathers are blocked and oil is blowing out of the cam cover joint.
Have recomended an oil change and breather clean out, however, is there a gasket to be replaced or is it an instant gasket type of joint that needs cleaning up and re-gunging?
Thanks.

Omega General Help / Track rod adjusters siezed.
« on: 24 September 2008, 19:07:57 »
Having got the camber sorted I thought i had better make sure the track rod adjusters were free before fitting new boots and having alignment checked

Siezed or what!

Had to remove both track rods (no probs with a decent splitter) and each end of the rod took over an hour to get free! :o  (blow lamp and hammer required)
Rebuilt all nicely greased up and adjustable by hand.
Roughly aligned using a length of string from rear tyres to front.
Couldn't get the tyres i wanted or geometry done at the place i wanted so went to my usual trye supplier. (Cabot tyres)
Using their bog standard alignment checker they reckoned i had 2 degrees toe in, but not very accurate as the rears are out of alignment.
£96 for 2 Wanli rubbers all in, went home and took out most of the toe in, so next job (other than the MOT) is to free the rear adjusters and get the whole thing done properly.

Omega General Help / Camber adjustment - how?

Is there a guide on here how to check and possibly adjust front camber?

Omega General Help / Tyre wear - cause?
« on: 17 September 2008, 10:35:01 »
I'm suffering from advanced tyre wear and need to fix cause before fitting new boots. Ideally a visit to WIM is the answer but time and distance prohibit, and anyway, if it is wishbones, would need to change first.
What do you guys think?

Front offside inner edge - outside ok

Front Nearside inner edge - outer is ok

Rear Nearside

The rear offside looks similar to the rear nearside

Omega General Help / Cruise servo box types
« on: 17 September 2008, 13:05:34 »
I've been in touch with Mutantcav about a replacement cruise servo unit (the box that is on the inner wing and connects to the bowden cable on the throttle body)
He says there are different part numbers for prefacelift long and short plenums, and another number for facelift versions!
Is there really any difference?  I only need one as the ribbon inside mine has snapped so only need to replace the box

Omega General Help / PAS flushing
« on: 30 August 2008, 03:11:38 »
My PAS is not working at idle revs, and i am told this is an MOT failure  :(
I have been advised to flush the system and then add Wynns seal restorer additive which apparently is quite good.
Question is, what is the best way to flush the PAS system?

Omega General Help / 2.0 exhaust question
« on: 24 June 2008, 00:15:25 »
Dad phoned tonight, says the front flexible pipe at the bottom of the down pipe on his 2.0 saloon has split and he doesn't know if it is replaceable as  a seperate item.

Now I don't know either, so can anyone enlighten us please?
