Heated Towel Rail
« on: 07 October 2019, 08:20:26 »

Radiators get piping hot, towel rail only gets warm.

No air in system, or towel rail.

No blockage in towel rail.

Just gets warm, no cold areas, same heat all over.

Assuming that the towel rail runs off the central heating system as opposed to the hoidioter,I think I would be looking at both valves feeding the towel rail.

Has it worked fine prior to this issue or is the first time..is it a new fitment ?

sounds like not much flow, the system may need "balancing"
if the valves both sides of the towel rail are fully open,or TRV is not stuck shut (common)
any rads that are hot instantly when the boiler is first turned on should get turned down slightly,

Both valves fully open, no TRV.

I will try to balance the system.

what happens if you shut off all the other rads in the house? The water would then HAVE to flow through the bathroom rad

I had a towel rail fitted in the new downstairs toilet when we had an extension done.  It only got luke warm. I went under the floor to find that both pipes from the towel rail had been connect to the return meaning that it was being fed by 'used' water, which had lost its temperature feeding other radiators.
Sorted by the plumber (if you can call him one after doing a 'schoolboy' error), and then got piping hot as it should have done.
