Has The Donald finally lost it
« on: 07 October 2019, 22:15:16 »

He's starting to actually sound like Kim Jung Il or any other deluded dictator. His latest tweet, following criticism of his plans to withdraw American troops from northern Syria, leaving his allies, the Kurds, at the mercy of turkey:

Tricky scenario.

Let our NATO ally obliterate the allies of the US. ISIS must be rubbing their hands.

The Donald. Excels at  rhetoric.

Oh, do not be fooled :)

He knows exactly what he is doing; putting America First, and using the power of his country to make others jump.  He takes no fool gladly, and is going to make sure they know the force, financially and militarily, he can apply.  He is enjoying himself in the Oval Office, but who knows what he is going to achieve in the long run. War? Maybe, but he just may succeed in making others, including Europe, not take the USA for granted and give them respect, as he is certainly highly unpredictable which makes him the most dangerous of Presidents for a long time, if not for ever! :( :(

Expect him to be re-elected as the red necks, and so much of America, are right there with him :D :D ;)

For an intelligent person you should really choose your words more carefully.

Being hard working and proud is nothing to be ashamed of and should be a label of compliment rather than one of derogation...

Incidentally, whilst that sinks in, As President, Trump has single handedly broken the economic back of Iran. So this is no empty threat.

The sad thing really is that none (or very little) of what trump has promised these people will actually come to pass. Because the people trump really cares about are himself and the multi million/billionaires that put him where he is.

The rednecks and hillbillies who voted for him in good faith, are just the suckers playing his three card Monte.

It could be argued that, regardless of how he came to be elected, he has done more for the average American than Obama and Bush combined...

What metric would you use to measure this?

Under his administration, inequality in incomes has grown, Minimum wage is down (adjusted for inflation), and he's done his best to strip Unions of power, tried to abolish the Affordable Healthcare that Obama put in place while failing to control paid-for healthcare premiums.

On those bases it would seem the average American worker is worse off than they used to be.

I was not being derogatory, quite the opposite, and was thinking of the right wing element in the States like my old American friends, not the wishy washy Democrats who lost thousands of industrial jobs.  :)

Obamacare was far from affordable... :-X Tax reductions for the self employed, significantly raising tax thresholds of items such as gift tax from $12.5k to $15k, also removing the restriction of previously limiting 529 college savings plans from individual children to siblings and immediate family. To name but three ;)

Where Trump had done a deal with Erdogan while Ivanka was opening Trump Towers Istanbul and has disarmed the Kurd over the last few months for in return US 'protection' and this is their Trump thank you for helping to defeat ISIL by throwing the Kurds to the Turkish military in an invasion.

The reason that Trump has rowed back on his approval is that Turkey has previous on Kurd genocide in previous invasions which is a war crime that involves all culpable parties not only on direct action but also any third party 'approval' intent. When this was pointed out to Trump, he has sensibly reigned back his approval so he will not be liable for any war crimes committed by Turkey.

Where I'm certainly no fan of the Kurdish Marxist PKK terrorist group, I'm also no fan of Western countries using useful groups for their geopolitical dirty work and then selling them out to a bleak bloody fate as soon as the have served their purpose. This badly damages Western standing in the world and also gives the West's hard left like Corbyn ammunition on the 'wicked' right which makes the defence of centre-right conservative values much more difficult.

Once you understand that what drives Trump is his constant need for money where the cost of sustaining his lifestyle far exceeds what he has ever been capable of earning hence his numerous business failures and bankruptcies. Fortunately, his global money laundering operations are one of his rare successes and of great use to many of the world's corrupt leaders and dictators for parking 'clean' money in safe havens. Vlad, Semion et al are happy to keep paying the piper for his services as long as he keeps playing their tunes. This is big league stuff where $100m is small fry & $bns normal business.
