the X engines vs the Y engines are definitely different, however not personally sure if one can be used on the other engine. I'd err on the side of 'no' but happy to be proven wrong, especially if it helps :)

If it helps I've used a gasket set bought for a 2.5V6 on a 2.6V6 without any problems.

Get later one. If yours needs earlier type, trim it :)

I bought Y342 2.6 petrol manual saloon 10 May 2016 in Plymouth. In the boot were a towbar, a gear lever cover, and a cam cover gasket set, from Leader LSC, code 06 07 642, costing £12.46 plus VAT. I cleared the breathers and fitted new gaskets to RHS as it was leaking. Still OK after 11 months and 6100 miles. Pics follow of the other side set not yet used. Is this 2.6 specific?

Is that trade. Ask for trade, in a 'plumber voice'  :y

Also, sorry, but unfortunately this is one of the larger costs with omega ownershiop. However, cost is relative. If those gaskets have lasted 18 years, for example, that's literally pence per year.

Timing belt kit approx <£100
Gaskets approx £80
Front suspension rebuild £100-200
Subsequent Geometry setup £50 therabouts

However, after that you've got a very reliable car which has electric everything, comfort, and shouldn't cause you anything but small maladies, which are very often pence to sort / no more expensive than any other car, like oil, coolant, brake fluid changes etc etc.  :y
