Hi there

Just jointly bought a manual 1996 2.5 v6 omega estate with AND181 with the intention of doing the Rust 2 Rome car rally( Edinburgh to Rome, 4500 miles in a car that costs no more than £500) and hopefully get some upgrades to the car done as part of the Rust 2 Rome preparation.

The car has been in the hands of the same owner for the last 15 years and has oddles of receipts and paperwork along with a boot full of spares. Does have a few issues but nothing we can't handle, and apart from a dead battery which meant we couldn't turn the car off it managed the 250 mile journey from Leeds to AND181's without fault, and despite having 150k miles on the clock it drove better than some new cars I've driven, rather comfy as well considering what we paid for it.

Do have a history of vauxhalls but mainly astras with the daily being a mk5 VXR, so yeah quite a contrast to the omega.

So far been digging through the guides and found a lot of good info in there.

Anyway, time for me to stop talking  :)

Certainly will be an adventure.

Got a year to get the car ready plus adding some touches, do also plan on adding some more power to the car so long as it remains in or as close to the budget we have, which should be capable as we plan on doing all the work ourselfs and sourcing parts from all over. Already got a set of black leathers from a facelift estate which would look better than the cotton or whatever material the seats that are in the car are made of.
