Ford Fusion/Fiesta automatic gearbox fluid level
« on: 26 November 2019, 13:23:07 »

Goooooood afternoon my fellow omega freaks, I mean friends 🤔🤣🤣🤣

Mummy Bears 🐻 automatic 2006 Ford Fusion (which I believe has the same automatic transmission they put in the fiesta) has had a bit of attention lately. I’ve replaced the auto box selector switch (which Ford call a “range sensor”), I’ve serviced it, put a new condenser in, fitted a new wing mirror. Anyway it has a drain plug for the auto box so I am going to change the fluid. I’ve done this before but I’ve forgotten the level check procedure. It has a dip stick which I thought was an American thing. Am I right that I do the drain. Refill through the dipstick tube. Give it a run. And then check level with the car warm and still running....

Cheers boys 😍😍😍

The Durashift EST is the semi automatic one I thought?

This is just a straight up auto box.

Bang on mate. 4 speed automatic AW80 👍

If you’ve got a level check procedure that’d be amazing 😊😊😊

Its the same as used in the Astra etc so same procedure (there was an online workshop manual).

Its usually fill to the max mark, run through all the gears and get it warm, check and top up

Prior to fluid level check: Let engine run in idle for one minute with selector lever in "P" position. Shift selector lever once through all positions from "P" to "1" and then back again.

Caution

Prior to and during fluid level check, selector lever must be in "P" position with engine running.

Note:   Shake transmission fluid can (1) prior to use (as shown in pictogram (2)), to ensure mixture of the additives. If this is not observed, the fluid foams up during driving operation, which can lead to faults in the transmission.

Measure transmission fluid temperature with TECH 2 – see Checking Procedure "AF 13-II/AF 17/AF 20/AF 22 Automatic 4-Speed Transmission Astra-G ". Charge transmission fluid to relevant upper mark.

For cold transmission (below + 35 °C ambient temperature, within one minute with engine idling) correct fluid level must lie between markings on the side of fluid dipstick showing "MIN + 20 °C".

For warm transmission (approx. 80 °C – after travelling distance of approx. 20 km) correct fluid level must lie between markings of fluid dipstick showing "MAX + 80 °C".

Or

Fill to max if no temperature markings on the dipstick

That's the GM one

Thanks fuse.

I’ve looked on the dipstick and it says 50 degrees. So I drain. Fill with same amount removed. Drive n get it warm. Put in park. Get level to max.
