Title: Clocking
Post by: miniator on 04 July 2019, 10:06:00
Thanks to the MOT History check available for mainland cars, ive found several omega's with questionable mileage claims in their adverts.

I assume that clocking one of these is dead easy....

Is this as prolific on the mainland too?

in advert search engines you can select options like "less than 100,000 miles" etc and sellers sometimes deliberately put lower miles to get more views  >:(
Omegas are 16+ years old now ,so not worth clocking
maybe the cars have just had new (or second hand) clocks ,due to failure of originals  :-\
other cars have their miles "corrected" no doubt  :(
MOT history checks are a great tool
BUT does not stop someone "correcting"  ::) mileage between MOTs , or having a second set of clocks to swap in.
also, on a car so old, many wear parts may have been swapped  , and on a low value car , mileage becomes less important and condition .lack of rust etc should be what to look for .

no excuse for dishonesty and fraud though if the seller has clocked a car
