Title: VED
Post by: TD on 05 June 2018, 16:36:34
Just changed my Mondeo 1.6TD for basically the same, but newer and a 2.0TD

The VED on the 1.6TD was £30/yr

Just taxed it online and pleasantly surprised to find the VED on the 2.0TD is also £30/yr  :y :)

Happy days. My VW was £30/year as well, also 2.0.

My car share buddies BMW 3.0 twin turbo petrol is just £130/year  :o

I've recently renewed the tax on my other 'non Omega' car, and it was a eye watering £520..ouch...>:( >:(😢
Still, it puts a big smile on my face  ;D whenever I drive it. Oh, in case anyone's wondering, the grill has four rings on it.....
Yet, I have the odd classic car too, which are tax exempt, and now MOT exempt, which kind of makes up for it a bit...... :y

Gotta fill all that empty space in Lancashire with something, eh? :) (I have a fair bit of space here, but still don't think I'd get away with having five+ cars ;D)

One of the reasons I went for this house in the early 90's was that (besides liking it!) it had a massive back garden which wasn't overlooked, and due to a bypass about 50m away over a field at the rear, wasn't likely to be built on either.
I ended up with a decent sized garage in the back garden. It originally required planning, but in the planning stages permission was refused.
This forced me to reposition the garage in the garden so that I didn't need planning, and this then gave me a wonderful 20m area at the back of the garage in which I can store all sorts (cars, trailers, caravans etc) and also keep them out of view of the house and my wife, which reduces her criticism, shall we say, of my cars!

Genius! I salute you, sir ;)

Sadly all of the back garden is overlooked by our house (and the far end, by the neighbours), so I haven't got anywhere to hide stuff :(

When we eventually relocate (closer to retirement!), though, space to hide projects will be high on the list of requirements in a house  ;D

Just not fair.  :(

£46.81 each month for the XFR and £46.81 each month for the mighty Signum.

If you pay £20 a year to tax an XF then so should I.

I shall be writing to my MP. ::)

£30/yr for the Skoda, if memory serves.. but I think I'd rather pay £46/mo for an XFR. If you'd like to do a straight swap? ;)

Yes but HMRC have realised that they are losing millions, because people have bought lower emissions, so they are now creaping the levels up.

£320 for the privilege to harm fluffy creatures, and kill polar Bears..

It is fortunate you are a member of the 'super rich' club.

Is it costly keeping the 60ft yacht  moored in Monaco? :)....along with all the dolly birds. :)

Happy with my £20pm roller skate. Next car should be a suitably sized 'opps you' to the environmentalists, communists and millenials alike and still only be £25pm :D

I don't think there are any moorings that small at Monaco. If it doesn't have a Helipad on the top, they turn you away.

Split them out? The Zaf and Omega were close, so I put 6 months on the Zaf to spread it bit more.  :)

I should do really. I considered paying them all monthly but begrudge paying even more.

It used to be a 10% penalty, but I believe now it is below 5% :-\
