Replaced Cig-lighter with USB charger
« on: 02 February 2019, 14:24:36 »

Since nobody is going to smoke in my car the rear Cig-lighter isn't needed. I have had a charger in it to charge my phone but I thought this would be better and cleaner. It is connected to the lighter feed and will then turn itself of as the lighter does.

My dashcam power feed is soldered onto the back of that accessory socket. It keeps the power off the auxiliary timer so the camera keeps running for 5 or so mins after you have left the vehicle which is handy  :y

You have to savage the lighter fittings on the backside pretty much to be able to fit this.

Here's one in the UK. Although it shouldn't be too hard to find others.

Even cheaper, and power display
 https://www.amazon.co.uk/CHGeek-Charger-Adapter-Waterproof-Motorcycle/dp/B077XY276Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1549394740&sr=8-3&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=usb+socket+12v&dpPl=1&dpID=41-6OyZnfLL&ref=plSrch

Even easier though is one of these

Problem with those chargers that use the rear cig-lighter socket is that if you fold down the rear seat you have to pull that plug since it will hit the seat.
