General Discussion Area / flood
« on: 26 December 2015, 17:50:24 »
My parents phoned me this morning. We're flooded she said, but we're OK .... no need to come round. We went anyway and within an hour, we were up to our knees in the living room.  :( :( :(

It could be worse I suppose ... this is a couple of miles away from me and a few miles up stream of my Mum & Dad's

My daughter-in-law (if they were married) has a sister that had a little girl on Christmas Day last year. This morning in the early hours she delivered another little girl!!!  :y :y I wonder what the odds of that actually are!

General Car Chat / Insignia ECOFLEX
« on: 08 December 2015, 12:47:53 »
A neighbour has an Insignia ECOFLEX. The glowplug light has been coming back on after starting ie duff glowplug. Another neighbour that works at AN Other franchised  dealer offered to change all four for about £250  ??? which was thought to be a bit expensive considering that glowplugs are generally £15/£20 each. A little research though suggests that ECOFLEX engines use a plug with some kind of pressure sensor built into them. Consequently, glow plugs for this car are more like £100 EACH!!!!  :o :o :o

Just out of interest, who knows what about this engine?

SWMBO works at ASDA and is generally behind the lottery/cigarette kiosk. Today someone came and asked for cigarettes that came to around £400, paid for them by card. And then he decided that he also needed/wanted another £600 worth, the transaction also went thru OK - presumably on another card. He then asked for more, for which SWMBO said that she needed authorisation for ...... ASDA would be running out of ciggs themselves. As soon as a supervisor was mentioned he was packed up & disappeared.

As the more savvy amongst us has probably already guessed  ::) the cards he used were cloned. So ASDA/the banks are out of pocket today to the tune of £1000

After being on this desk/kiosk for the past couple of months, the management have finally told her that the limit for ciggy sales is £400 per person.

General Discussion Area / P poor customer service
« on: 20 November 2015, 20:38:51 »
Back in June I bought a replacement battery for my mobile from 4ourhouse. 5 months later the new battery is holding a charge not much better than the original, so I emailed them to tell them. A few day later I received an email from the to say that they said they would arrange for a courier (DPD) to collect it? I asked them to explain ....... their reply was that Unfortunately we have a refund and reorder policy which means you will be fully refunded from the previous order but if the parts are still required a new order would have to be placed.  ??? ???
I think I'll just buy from elsewhere & cut my losses with 4ourhouse & promise myself never to buy from them again. Piss poor returns procedure if you ask me

I notice that Vauxhall adverts are now advertising the fact that new Vauxhalls have access to Onstar. I wonder if the CCRT700 is compatible with it  :-\
