I use the shell donax, because it's what I was given by someone, it's mainly used in heavy commercial use, heavy plant etc, and it's synthetic too.

ok, thanks  :y

I'll order the fully synthetic dexron 6 @£49 for 10 L

according to ticks in the service book ,it's been done twice (current mileage 77k )
so it should be pretty clean when i drop the sumps
or someone ticked a box but did not change it  ;)

anyone have a link to suitable sealant for the sumps please ?

The required spec is Dex 3 for the Omega boxes. Dex 6 should be backward compatible but you never know if there is a material in the box it'll disagree with.

For the sump, any kind of RTV sealant should be OK, such as the back stuff (loctite 598? or the GM equivalent) we use for cam covers.

Gearbox was, according to the official service schedule "sealed for life", so I'd be surprised if a main dealer changed it unless they were being very generous.

The normal recommendation here is Fuchs Titan 4000. Many of us have used that with good results for many years.

Thanks for the info  :)

I was surprised looking at the service book
8th service (2012 @70k cambelt) ,but the skf vkma sticker shows the wrong layout for the belt
9th service (2013 @ 71,5k)plugs, air,fuel filter,brake & trans fluid
10th service (2015 @ 72k)plugs again ! fuel filter again !
11th service (2016 @75k) brake and trans fluid again  :o
12th service late 2017 is not in book but  the brake pads , discs all round, tyres,oil/filter,air filter, tyres etc etc

I think I will check the level and dip test the trans fluid to see what the condition is before i order any atf  :-\

Yes the engine oil, TC 10W-40.

OK, thanks , I'll order a tub , will do for all the astra's too  :y
