1.6 Hdi sudden cut out won't restart...
« on: 17 January 2015, 22:24:29 »

As above, no warning...

Car has recently had injector work, and there's diesel on the underside of the engine cover, and around 1 and 3.

Turns over fine, so don't suspect cambelt...  Any ideas?

So its got to be a fuel line/pipe leak with air getting in the system

If there is a fuel leak which is enough to drop the rail pressure then it wont start,as already said air getting in will cause similar effect.

Turns out it was the cambelt afterall... apparently it had done 60k, so half Shitrons suggested 120k schedule  :o

¿

Its not normally the belt that's the cause, water pump failure or guide pulley breaking up are usual culprits

Generally its not that the idlers and water pump don't last the interval, usually its the fact that at the last scheduled change the grease monkey opted for the "rubber bit " only change.

Caught quite a few like this making tell tail signs of belt failure. On closer inspection you find an original branded tensioner /pulleys with an after market belt fitted.
