Oxford meet
« on: 26 January 2012, 16:27:09 »

Hello all,

It's been a while since we last had an Oxford meet, and after a few discussions it seems we ought to try and organise another one.
It is rather rainy and cold most days, so I think an outdoor meet at Cutteslowe is out of the picture  ;D
So, options for an indoor meet would be gladly received.
I had thought of The Heritage Motor Museum. http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/
Technically it's not Oxford, not even in the correct county...it's about 36 miles from Oxford on the M40 past Banbury on the way to Birmingham.
Prices are £11 - Adult
Group discounts are available if 12 or more people attend.

Are there any other suggestions of indoor car or non car related places we can go?

I will be up for it, dates dependent, even though I've been there recently ;D

No real scope for car repairs - I can see security taking a dim view of that - but its too friggin cold for that anyway.

A reasonable sized canteen IIRC.

I haven't been for ages, but they used to have a quad race track there which was great fun!
It is a fantastic museum though :y

Ditto , date dependent,  but defo up for it in principle.....      not been to the museum,  so might be interesting......

just in case,    and not promoting this as a choice, or suggesting i'd prefer it,   merely in the spirit of offering an option if it seems necessary......      like if people need stuff done,.....

for alternatives,  there's always the Kassam stadium for bowling and  a chinese,???     and i'd happily volunteer my driveway for some repairs ( bit narrow,  but would get 2 omegas on it in a row...  and although no roof,  it is solid fenced in so at least partially protected from the elements.....   bit of tarp and some rope could keep off the rain,   i do have a couple of gazebos somewhere,   but nothing short of a bleeding miracle would make it "warm"

(i am just round the corner from the Kassam as it were.....    so easy to gather here, then move on later to bowlplex / food/ cinema  etc.....

Sundays are best for us, as the wife works nights,  inc Friday,    so sleeps most  of saturday.....

and there's loads of parking around here.......

We did the Kassam last winter.  Not sure if gayboy was banned from Frankie and Bennys :P

It was rather cold, I do remember that ;D

hospitalised....    large bits of late november  through to march,    pneumonia.    followed by heart failure.     that about covers it.

wasn't a good period  in my life.       still sad to have missed a meet on my doorstep....
