« on: 23 July 2009, 23:02:01 »

hi there, got a 3.2 mv6 estate manual special, ex rozzer. 126000 miles. cam belt 80k, collision investigatin unit, hid headlights, vented disks back and front, hard springs. traction control switch reactivated( they cut the wires). when does the belt need doing again? how much? and i like to do all my work myself. oh and common faults.
cheers

It was originaly 80K .. changed by vauxhall because of the large number of failures I believe.

It's not the belt itself that goes .. but the adjuster bearings go, the pulleys seize, the belt jumps a few teeth, the pistons meet the valves ....

So not just new adjusters but rebuilt heads and possibly new pistons ... gets very, very expensive ...

solution .. change the belt and the adjusters.

and BTW you MUST use the correct kit to set it up... stick your location in your profile .. you might find someone near you with one. There is also a DVD available from the shop with all the instructions to do the job..

mmm... I've got a V6 cam locking kit, but not the DVd and I've never done the job... :(  Swindon is a tad far but if there's no-one nearer to you... I'll be in West Croker in September but I expect you'll want the job done well before then !!!

Location is : User CP (tab at the top), Profile (tab),  edit profile, enter password, then second box from the bottom... click save changes .. :)
