I am somewhat confused that, being in the very suddenly created Tier 4, I am no longer allowed to see my family at Christmas time, with less than a week's notice - but, in the same Tier 4, "places of communal worship" are allowed to continue opening and functioning?

It's not meant to be derogatory at all, I just don't understand it. I can't meet the three or four people closest to me, but, I could still go to a church / synagogue / mosque, with 100+ people in it, and that's ok?

It's actually very simple.. if you get off the outrage bus and apply a little common sense ...

Your visitors at home will be in an enclosed space, will hug and kiss and move around, and you will be in close proximity for a length of time ... ie .. you risk spreading the virus between you by personal contact.

In the place of worship, which is much larger, there are strict rules on "social distancing", "one way systems" and sanitising stations ....  you are there to pray and not converse with others, you remain distanced and the time limit is short .. the risk of transmision of virus is therefore much lower...

It's the same stupid argument about going to a restaurant versus a wedding reception ....  I can attend a restaruant with my wife, have a nice meal and leave, and the ONLY person I converse with is the one waitress. ........how many weddings have you been to where you speak to no-one ?? NONE .. everyone wants to speak/dance/converse .. it is the whole "social" purpose of going to the wedding .. to see relatives you haven't seen for a while ...

I really do wonder what has happened to common sense these past few months ....  The government is being blamed for "spreading" the virus .... pretty imposible actually... the government has given the virus to no-one.... as it is spread by personal contact between human beings ... YOU and ME ....

Stay away from other people and you don't catch or spread the virus .....  seeemples

Don't see anyone, don't go out, don't do anything...

Ffs, that's all I have been doing since March. All I wanted was two days out to have a pint or two :-X

'dangle berries' to it, I am back off to bed.

Wake me up next year.

My local brewery delivers free of charge. ;D

Likewise ... 10 litres arriving Monday night ... and now daughter and partner aren't allowed to visit, they live in London now tier 4, I'll just have to try and drink it all myself ... the hardships this batflu are causing just keep on coming ........

Speaking personally, if my lad had left stuff like that anywhere that his mum might come across it, I would set fire to it and tell him to sling his hook. That's just me, though.

Agreed ... and no 40 year old son would be allowed to live rent free in my house ....   not that my lad would want to !! I'd restrict his social life far to much .... just as I did when he was 18 and left home .... my rules are my rules, obey or leave ... not difficult !!

Damned if they do, damned if they don't .....

If they do ... then they are pandering to the BLM movement and should uphold "british standards" (whatever they are) ...

If they don't .. then they are racist in not providing for the black community ....

Whichever choice they make an "Outrage Bus" will pull up and be filled with those who simply like to bump their gums ..... personally .. I shop at Sainsbury's for their goods, not their political views.

Actually you did ;D

Pardon!!! :o :o :o :o :o

Just read your post #63 when you wrote:

"The rules may not have changed but being 'woke' is apparently more important than the law.

Otherwise why are police kneeling at every oppsing opportunity  >:("

That was in reply to my contribution to Sainsbury's staff not treating your aunt as they should and me suggesting the store management and police should have been involved, then YOU having a completely off thread dig at the police in post #63!.

God, what with your Trump postings and now this, you really are making me worry bout you DG ;D ;D ;D

Lizzie .. don't worry about him ... he's quite secure in the parallel universe he occupies ......   :)

How strange! typing omega owners forum into search bar brings up this site but shows-even on the home page-"not secure" yet using the link in Entwoods reply it comes up with the lock symbol where it has previously :-\

Not strange at all ..... if you know why !

The search engine (I used google as I expect you did) links to an http:// version of the site .... that is insecure ... I linked to the https:// version .... which is the secure version ....

January 6th... :-X

You just don't give up do you ??   A bit like Donald himself ... failing to grasp reality...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-us-2020-55323407

"With Mr McConnell now accepting Joe Biden's victory, President Trump's final play - challenging his election loss in Congress on 6 January - also becomes more pointless. Not only will it be blocked by the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives, it seems unlikely to find any traction in the Senate.

Now the waiting for the Trump response begins. Will he shrug off Mr McConnell's words or add him to the growing list of enemies within his own party that must be confronted and condemned?

The president's next words and actions could reveal the depth of the political turmoil facing the party in the days ahead."

If you don't want to read the article .. this is the relevant bit ...

Thune added that any effort to try to overturn the result when Congress counts the Electoral College votes on Jan. 6 would get little support. “It’s not going anywhere,” he told reporters.

Senator John Cornyn, another veteran Republican, said he thought any such effort “would be a bad mistake” that would be soundly defeated in the 100-member chamber, currently controlled by his party.

“There comes a time when you have to realize that, despite your best efforts, you’ve been unsuccessful, that’s sort of the nature of these elections. You’ve got to have a winner. You’ve got to have a loser,” Cornyn told reporters at the U.S. Capitol.

To be slightly accurate ... unusual I know in this forum ..

The actual website   ... https://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php .....  IS secure .. and using an https (secure) server .. however (always one of those ... ) because the site does NOT host pictures, all of us who use avatar pictures host them elsewhere .. and that is what is deemed as "insecure" .. as the browser simply sees data from mixed sites, and knows not why, but knows that is an "insecure" system as the additional data (your avatar) may have "infiltrated" the site code...

thus any page with an avatar on it will show as insecure ... go to the home page

https://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php

(no avatars there) and it shows as secure ....

and defeated in inglorious terms ...

"Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections. All other pending motions are dismissed as moot," the court said in an unsigned order.

If using "offline" .. ie not permanently connected storage as a backup, a very simple to use, effective (and free) tool is "SyncToy" ... I use it simply on the 1st & 15th of each month .. and occasionally do an extra one if I've done a lot of file work

Switch on the external HD, wait a couple of moments for win 10 to "See" the extra drives
Run synctoy "All folder pairs" (it is set up with  pre-selected drives and folders )
When finished ... usually about 20 minutes
exit synctoy
switch of external drive.

Seemples

First time takes a tad longer as it requires setting up the "folder pairs" and "options"  .. I use "echo" so only changes are actually written/deleted

Perhaps, but it is a valid complaint nonetheless as even if the decision ends up being to split the 62 contested College votes 50/50 Biden still wins... But at least it would be constitutionally correct.

If they decide to reject the case, then that's effectively the end of the constitution, so that's unlikely to happen.

Now I know you consider yourself the expert on the USA and Trump in particular ..but even for you thats one hell of an assumption !  Perhaps it might actually be an idea to let the Supreme Court decide what is "constitutional" .. rather than you ???

I just love the way you prejudge everything to be in your favour .. must be dissapointing when the real world steps in ......
