1999 t plate omega 2.5 with lpg
« on: 03 June 2009, 12:51:16 »

Vauxhall Omega Elite 2.5 V6 Automatic LPG. Tax till Sep 09, MOT till March 2010.
This car has been fantastic, it’s huge and I've been using it for camping. The tow bar electrics work, but the caravan electrics are not wired up.
Generally good condition for its age, there’s a few rust scabs here and there. I have pictured the arch which is the worst part. There’s a small dent in the drivers rear door and a scratch in the rear passenger quarter.
It’s fitted with the recaro bucket leather seats, which means no electric controls but very very comfy!! The heater element has failed on the driver’s seat but the passenger one works ok. There is wear to the drivers seat bolster. The aircon blows very cold and I had it serviced and recharged a month ago. I fitted a Phillips satnav system (thanks to looknee) which works as it should!
Drives very well, shifts like it should. The LPG changes over smooth (you wouldn’t notice!) and it returns about 160 miles on a tank of LPG (40 Lt)
Ill start with the good bits. At 151k it had new front discs and pads, and a cam belt kit (Inc rollers etc) from Vauxhall. At 152k I changed the head gaskets, rocker gaskets, cam seals and had the heads skimmed and pressure tested. Whilst I had the engine apart I had a 6cyl multipoint LPG system fitted with a 40 lt 4 hole doughnut tank in the spare wheel well (cost £1000) No certificate though. About 6 days ago it had a new crank sensor fitted, and a full oil change Inc filter. New air con condenser in 2007 and new wishbones mid 2008.
There are a few bad points Im going to mention, when its running one of the hydraulic lifters taps away to itself, On the climate control the fan speed bulb has blown. When the engine is cold it slightly blows from the exhaust manifold as the car warms up it goes away. The ign lock sticks every now and then, I have read a guide on here for cleaning?
Id recommend viewing as its better to have a good look. Feel free to ask any questions.

Looking for 950 ono.

Have seen this car in the flesh and it's in excellent condition.

It has a custom made metal lid over the lpg tank so the boot floor is level and strong and the LPG filler is mounted on the towbar bracket, very neat installation.

I'm glad to see cars like this are being sold, as it's nigh on my ideal omega! Can't entertain getting one just yet as i'd have to shift at least two of my current ones ;D

so part of me is sad I missed out (the unrealist) and part of me is looking forward to my next omega estate! :-/

As an existing LPG estate driver, i'd be interested in a pic of that tank cover.....is it much more of an improvement than the standard spare wheel board?

Vectra Elite Estate doing good post-Omega service but still not as nice to sit in.

One last Omega on the drive, one Corsa on the lawn...maybe they'll go to a good home before too long!
