I meant, why would you do this for your Vectra, when all you need is a new key? Keys - and the locks they open -  are wear items after all.
Because a new key (with chip and synchronised) from Vx cost me £213.
When I had spare Omega locks and keys it was a no brainer. I wonder if Omega parts would fit Vectras and Astras. Maybe they would. If I could leave my one chip in the car then I could cheaply duplicate the key. The alarm might be embarrassing, I could remove the honker and just leave the lights to flash.

But as we've repeatedly posted, there are much cheaper and more convenient ways of getting new keys/remote/chips for these cars.
Even then, I've wasted too much time both personally and professionally on worn/damaged lock barrels and steering locks to consider swapping used parts to save £200. Nor do I believe in having just one key; a spare is one of the first things I buy if a new to me car doesn't have one.

I have not yet found a local car locksmith. I will persevere.
