Omega General Help / Auto box help needed please.
« on: 16 May 2009, 19:36:36 »
Hi , went out today in the Mig , was overtaking on the motorway , accelarated down into 3rd gear then felt a thump under the car and lost all transmision , coasted to the hard shoulder and was towed to safety ( 400 yards to next exit )  by some very helpful ( I cant believe I am saying that ! ) traffic officers , had the kids in the car so was very gratful of the quick motorway exit. RAC man towed me back home ( backwards ) and dumped car at the garage ( which is closed till Monday ) he got in and engaged the drive to D and reved gently , which bought up , Gearbox fault on the centre display . I am doing the paperclip test tommorrow hopefully , but anyone any ideas or had similiar ? Gearbox oil and filter were only changed 3 weeks ago and have done less than 200 miles since . Any advice would be very helpful ,

Many thanks

Interesting comments here , if you do lower your car , when your insurance is due and they ask has it been modified , do you mention it ?

thanks! well i knw someone who gets stuff of vx for trade. il stick to the vx oil then. confusion cleared! i prefer to change the oil every 5k and the castrol price was kinda scary but i feel much better now! thanks again
tradeclub prices are cheaper than trade ;)

For eg, here are Retail, Trade, and TC prices for 5l of semi synth (all ex vat)

5 litres 93165216 £25.90 £20.20 £10.89

and in addition, there is a 4 for the price of 3 offer on oil on TC.

sorry I'll try again !

Hi TB , can you pls verify a question . I have looked on the autobahnstormers website and my local VX dealer is on there Smiley . If I apply for one of the auto cards will I get trade or T/C prices ? Sorry but I am a little confused. Also , what is the cost of the card , as I am sure it would be " refunded" in no time with purchases made on it via the savings made.

Many thanks

Dave

Yes , I have Michelins on mine , just done all four , had too do two at a  time though £££££££ :-/ . But as I said to my wife , no point in having a £25,000 car ( when new of course ) and running it on wokka mocca tokka , Tyres @ £35 per corner , If I need to stop in a hurry I want to know I have all the equipment on the car to do it properly  :y
