Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Stereo/Sat Nav Fault

What type of display do you have, is it half height or full?

Do you have switches on the end of the washer stalk to control trip computer functions?

The CD fuse is only fitted to cars which have a boot mounted auto changer, there is also a fuse on the rear of the stereo.

I've got a facelift with Satnav and all nav and computer functions are controlled from the buttons on the steering wheel not on the stalks as per pre facelift models.

Also the NCDC, refers to CD Changer, which is mounted in the head unit at the bottom, as oppsed to boot mounted.

Marks photo is also valid for prefacelifts, as I used it when I did mine a few months back.

Get the Vauxhall touch up spray and paint the sensors, as the Vx paint will be an excellent match...
Cheers for that. Hi ho, Hi ho, it's off to Vx i go.  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

My only problem though is i've got the irmy back bumper, there is a flat ridge running the full length, so it looks like they'll have to be fitted there.

i fitted mine about 2 weeks after i got the car, i have had them in the past and they are a godsend....

here's mine, i got the kit from ebay, came with a distance display as well

Did you paint the sensors individually or did you redo your full bumper after fitting?

It just goes to show what happens when we start relying on sensors.   :)

I just hope Vx don't start fitting sensors to engines and the like. That'd be a nightmare!  ;D

Yep.   :-[

Needless to say, I've shelved the front sensor fitting project!

Instead, I'm going to fit several old tyres to the front and back bumpers for protection, barge stylee.

It should look something like this when finished.

Nice huh?

I reckon these should be standard fit, even on the base models!   ;D

You've far too much spare time on your hands lad. You're supposed to be working.  ::)

Not quite, the display and unit are coded together and not to the ECU at all so the two have to stay together.

Which means you can swap the pair over to another car but cant fit a second hand display or unit to an existing install unless it has been de-associated with tech 2 first.

That sounds a bit more sensible.  :)

Turns out that I didn't need the code when removing the head unit after all (Siemens NCDC2013) ...  ::)

I found that out when i fitted my CID, apparently the headunit/display are married and are coded for your ecu through tech2. You can remove them from your own car for as long as you want, they'll still work when you connect them all together again.

If however you fit the headunit or screen to another car, which obvoiuosly would have a different ecu and immob. code than your own it would then lock up.

So my local Vauxhall service chappy says.

Omega General Help / Re: Heater bypass valve?  Any advice?

I notice you said wiper mechanism, it's only the wiper arms and blades that need to come off, a 5 minute job at worst, so i'd be asking them about that.

All they want to do is try and justify their labour times by removing bits that don't need removed.  >:(

Give it a go yourself, you'll be surprised how easy it is.  :y

Omega General Help / Re: losing lots of water

Would the HBV cause such a drastic loss in coolant so quickly?

6 Pints seemed quite excessive to me.  :-/

Have you checked the hose from the radiator to coolant pipe, that is located at the passenger side, or right bank as you look at the engine. You would only see a major leak there if your stat was opened, i.e. engine at temperature.  :-/

With regard to the buzzing when first started, that will most probably be the pump for the self levelling suspension, if fitted.

Omega General Help / Re: Gearbox dead can anyone help?
« on: 01 November 2007, 14:58:37 »
What problems are you having?

I know people on here have in the past reported problems with auto boxes, which were rectified by a simple fluid and filter change.

Anyone?

I guessing its either:

1. Gone horribly wrong, and Allenm is too busy consoling himself with alcohol
2. Gone well, and he's too busy enjoying his car again

The suspense is killing us....
You forgot 3.

Halfords are still flicking through the book for the correct part number.  ;)
