Not today, but a few days ago

Investigated why the Omega V6 was pissing it's coolant everywhere once it came to a stop and cooled down, but was fine when driving

Couple of weeks ago, after a year stood still (100 miles between MOTs)  :-[ I decided to get her going again. So, fresh oil, new radiator to fix the leaking one, new cam cover gaskets, plus, all filters, and of course, timing belt kit, water pump, aux belt and idler wheel, plus coolant.

Don't need to buy a water pump says I, I've got one in the garage that's brand new.

Turns out the new pump was leaking through the, ahem, "grease hole". Every time the car was parked, it would slowly empty the coolant through it!
So, fitted another new water pump. Due to soaking the newly fitted cambelt in slimey antifreeze  whilst taking off the pump, I put another new cambelt on too upon reassembly second time around. No hardship, another ten mins work, I already had another belt due to buying the "two kit method"

Also been playing Astras, and going far beyond what my back allows :( :( so much pain  >:( >:( >:(

That's tidier, Doc. On this display there is nothing shaded. On the Design estate there is something displayed bottom LH corner, shall have to watch that.

Managed over 40 miles in the Battlebus today. So all 3 cars have done more than 40 miles in the last week :)

Finally got the air con absolutely perfect,  but it cost me £650 in dribs and drabs about four or five visits, new condenser and compressor and drier, two new pipes, new valves, Not unfortunately though at the same time 😞however it’s very cold in the car if needed now🥶 a classic where do you stop, oh just another £50/ £100 etc, but I love the car so WTF!👍

By dash top vent, I meant the one for clearing the windscreen  ;)

Not the easiest place to get to though :D
That is trickier, can't easily do it now. The location at the bottom of the display is attractive, but of course that is on the trim strip that conceals the screws that locate the heater vent panel, that goes on last. I should need to tighten the screws first, hoping to feed the cable through a gap between vent panel bottom and fascia, then glue display to trim strip. Will investigate.

why do you want it on the dash? It's ugly and you have to dismantle large chunks of interior to route the wires neatly.

Fit it facing forwards, upside down to the centre of the tailgate opening where it will display correctly when you glance in the rear view mirror. Trim tape it to the hard plastic trim if there is one - like an Omega estate - or use a long curved needle to sew one part of velcro to the headlining, and glue the other part to the display. Then all you need to do is tuck the wire under whatever trim is easiest; you probably won't even need to remove any.

Now,  you'll only ever see the thing when you need to.

Old people only look out of the windscreen when they drive ;)

That's how my Granny drove everywhere, and she never knowingly killed anyone :D

Joking aside, properly fitted things should leave no trace when removed. Takes work to get right, which is why most people just stick everything to the top of the dash  ;D

I have retrofitted a few Omegas for people, and the display usually goes where you suggest, for all the reasons you mention.

I suggested the location I did for Terry, as he had already stuck it to the dash...  :D

If any car I buy/drive doesn't have something, I don't miss it. I like my parking sensors, but I'd soon get used to life without them, like when I drive wifey's car.

That's good, because soon the do-gooding misinformed will soon ensure new cars don't have engines.

Fitted a wheel centre cap to replace the damaged one that stares at me every time I go near the car.  ::)
A bit sad I know, but there you go.  :P
