I`ve had 2 stationary vehicles written off by others in the last 3 years, 1 hit and run who failed to stop with no recourse, the other a non fault claim, with a successful outcome - if you can claim from others insurance via your own insurance - also make a separate claim direct/separately with their insurance for £10 per day loss of use of vehicle (if you have another vehicle to drive, as I did, and steered well clear of claims management companies as I just dealt directly with my own and the other party`s insurers ?) If your miggy is written off/uneconomical to repair (but you know you can get it repaired to your satisfaction - find out the salvage cost of it to buy it back using part of the insurance non fault payout/supplemented with £10 per day (circa 30 days worth ? ) A friend of mine got his beemer back on the road by buying it back, and getting it properly repaired with part of the insurance proceeds ( and was OK that his beemer became a category D ,I think write off, as the alternative was an unaffordable / beyond his means replacement) - just a thought/got him legally back on the road with his own original car ?
