3rd Bloody time unlucky, another one gets HIT
« on: 05 May 2015, 19:29:50 »

This time last year, My white parked up 3.0 Plod Project decides to go Walkabout, never to be seen again.

About 6 months back, My parked up 3.2 Elite Estate gets side whacked and written off by an unknown Hit and Run.

So, Bank Holiday, some fceking mooron idiot decides to wipe out next doors front steel gates and fence at speed and, well have a look at the photo, His car ended up on top of the gate by the way.      >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Underneath, is My 3.2 LPG Manual Special.  >:( :'(

Yep, in practice, Boot, although I cant open it, OS rear wing (hopefully panel beaten, if they still do that sort of thing) and a rear / side respray and adjacent wash in (probably whole side as its in Silver).

Problem is, as we all know, 03 Omega, will they write it off?

Still waiting for Plod to tell me if the other car was Insured by the Driver (Male)., as the car is owned and Insured is under a named Female  :-\

Could very well write off as beyond economical repair yes.I suppose driver might be covered on a policy of his own that allows for driving any other vehicle he doesn't own,but could be something of a minefield here.

Crikey, that is some run of bad luck.

Hope the insurance covers full repair.

If the car is insured but the driver isn't, they'll try and claim of the car policy.

Such a shame. Maybe it'd be cheaper to move?

I`ve had 2 stationary vehicles written off by others in the last 3 years, 1 hit and run  who failed to stop with no recourse, the other a non fault claim, with a successful outcome  - if you can claim from others insurance via your own insurance - also make a separate claim direct/separately with their insurance for £10 per day loss of use of vehicle (if you have another vehicle to drive, as I did, and steered well clear of claims management companies as I just dealt directly with my own and the other party`s insurers ?) If your miggy is written off/uneconomical to repair (but you know you can get it repaired to your satisfaction - find out the salvage cost of it to buy it back using part of the insurance non fault payout/supplemented with £10 per day (circa 30 days worth ? ) A friend of mine got his beemer back on the road by buying it back, and getting it properly repaired with part of the insurance proceeds ( and was OK that his beemer became a category D ,I think write off, as the alternative was an unaffordable / beyond his means replacement) - just a thought/got him legally back on the road with his own original car  ?
