MID will tell you, for a price:

https://www.askmid.com/askmidenquiry.aspx
  total of £50 has sorted it . 30 for the casing from the dealers & a body shop gave me a price of £20 to spray it, he reckons it will cost him £8 in materials.
Depending on the damage to the beemer, it will probably cost them a lot more.
i wont say i hope so ::)

General Car Chat / small coming together of wing mirrors
« on: 28 September 2021, 23:27:21 »
driving home yesterday & part of my journey meant i had to drive through  village which is notorious for being a speed trap, as i was almost through the road narrows with a blind bend & at that moment a black bmw coming towards me took the bend & took my wing mirror. luckily for me the only damage was the casing which is obtainable from the dealers £33  come as a primed unit so needs painting. ebay has the from £10 but no o/s. its not worth an insurance claim & as i was going downhill i may have the bmw,s number plate on my dash cam. if i do can i find out the owner without reporting the prang. ??

one of my pet hates is Philip Schofield advertising " we buy any car "  . i doubt that he has had a quote from them. also they quote far below the list price. also funeral plans for the elderly such as Sun Life that ask for a lot more paid into than they will pay out.   >:(

General Car Chat / cars owned
« on: 28 August 2021, 01:44:15 »
a mate was asking me if i remember all the cars that iv,e owned ,  thought i would but was hopelessly wrong. my first car in 1964 was an Austin A35, 3 forward gear column change (i think). as my career was a merchant seaman i only used it whilst off ship but i would lend it to a guy so he could use it for family days out. we once changed the clutch & the bottom bolt & the next two were missing too . somebody had spot welded the steel gearbox to the bellhousing . i sold & the guy who bought it was disabled & had it full converted to complete hand controlled. his great grandson told me yesterday that it still gets driven albeit 2-3 times yearly. but iv,e been invited to go & see it, & its kept only 6 mls from where i live.

General Car Chat / tyre change woes
« on: 04 August 2021, 22:42:06 »
i set off last friday to go to York as my daughter was coming up from hampshire for the weekend. i,d only got a few miles  & a n/s rear tyre blew. the rain was a heavy pour down & i was absolutely soak ed by the time i put a space saver wheel on. i decided to head off back home as i do have a matching spare wheel . wheel on showered & changed headed to York. forward to the Monday i took the tyre to be repaired & was informed it was wall damage & also the o/s tyre had cracks in the wall so i ordered two michelin supremacy, to be put on the next day. what i hadnt realised when i  set off to go to York i must have left the locking nut key on the nut which came off as i drove.  the tyre depot wouldnt attempt to change advising to buy a key. rang the dealers & a new key would take 10days. so i ordered it & was told the cost would be £110. yesterday evening i decided to have a look for the original locking key & glad to say somebody did see it & put it on a gate post about 1/2 mile from where i live. got my tyres put on today.    :y :y

Can't help with the form but if you are successful in getting to Madeira, it's worth a visit to Funchal to go up in the cable car and do the Toboggan run.  :y  Two guys pushing you down the hilly streets in a wooden toboggan, it's a laugh and worth a go.  :y
it would scare me to death . i would be lucky to even climb into the toboggan, minds willing but bodys nacked

my sister & her best friend both passed their tests on the same day & not long afterwards i heard a conversation between them both regards whose car  were going to use as both admitted they weren,t competent at reversing. i also had a sister inlaw that would ask people to reverse park her car for her.
