Heated seats
« on: 12 August 2016, 00:34:43 »

I know it's not that time of year, but though I'd see if the front seats worked. Put them on 6 for five minutes , nothing. I've read that setting 3 or 2 should be used. How long do they normally take to heat up, if working properly?

Usually noticeable in a minute or two... :y

That said, did the switches light up? If yes, what was the outside temperature? As you'll struggle to feel the difference at much over 15° imho... :-\

Broken contacts/wiring in the seat itself is common.

Disconnect the connector and use a multimeter to check the resistance between the two contacts may help?

Yes the switches did light up. Outside temp 21c, might explain why! I'll try again when cold. Cheers.

When my heaters are on, you can't mistake a hot backside, whatever the outside temperature ???

The switches on my f/l elite light up, but no heat in the seats. I assume the element in the seats have failed but its strange that neither front seat works as the cars not had a hard life. Is there anything else to check before I take the seats out?

You and me both, Paul. :y
Indeed, all my Omega's have heated seats, and to be honest, whether leather or cloth, if they are only set to 2 or 3, you can tell within minutes they are working. Outside temperature imo is irrelevant, at least in my cars. Just ask my back and backside !!! ;)

No expert in this, but strange that both seats failed together. I would think there is a common problem between the two, rather than both seat elements packing up at the same time. Big coincidence.!! Just an opinion :y
