tiny leak advice pls

On the back of the engine (top) there are two large bolts with holes in them to allow the flow of coolant through them.. I call them banjo bolts.
Any way the one on the drivers side has been leaking slowly but steadily. Now it took quite a bit of strength to loosen it and i noticed it has some sort of rubber washer and then a metal one. I called the dealer and they are calling it an o ring. hes not sure if it comes with the metal washer too but it should. Will replacement cure my problem since they weren't loose?
Would it be ok to also use some coper sealant around the washer too?

Hi,
The metal washer and the rubber ring are both together called the seal. Although you say that the bolts were tight the rubber seals over time do fail. It sounds as though the seals in your case have failed and need replacing.

I would suggest that you may want to replace the other seal at the same time.

Always go for the cheapest repair. :y

Incidentally, I believe the metal is in the seal to manintain electrical continuity for the temp sensors...

That is correct.....the rubber is the seal and the metal provides the conductive path for the temp sender....

GM qouted me a price of 190.00 USD for replacement seals. The seals come with a kit that replaces' the entire t bar and bolts. GM refuses to sell me the seals by them selves and insist that I purchase the kit.

How tragic.
WOuld there be any chance I could order from vauxhall and have them shipped over seas?
What would be the part number?

Hi , the UK part number for them is 9240180 and you need 4 of them. They costed me £1.44 each ( 2.81 usd)

Only goes to show that GM are hyenas ;)

I don't know in this particular case, but normally you have to careful not to tighten the bolts excessively when it comes to orings. It might damage them.
