Our messages crossed, but thanks a lot - simpler than I imagined!
I will look out for a sensor next time I'm near a breakers, because I occasionally get false alerts, even after I've just filled the screenwash.

I agree with Red baron - how come?
How is it (supposedly) earthed at present, and what was measured to conclude thayt it was unsatisfactory?
I do have a certain amount of practical experience with earthing matters, as I once had to implement an earthing system for a Radio Station at my college, where I taught radio engineering. It was necessary to have a good earth for screening purposes and I used some 8 foot copper-bonded steel rods driven into the ground adjacent to the transmitter and coupled directly to the earth return on the transmitter.
As it was after a few years of really dry weather, the water table was far too low for just one rod - I had to use four of them, driven in on on top of the other with a really grown-up Kango hammer!
I can't see that you would need more than one rod, especially seeing how wet the weather has been of late, so may I suggest that you check with the company that I bought my rods from - advice will of course be free - and let's hope it will lead to a quick, simple (and cheap) fix!

Try posts@freemesa.org - they are a free site and you ask for what you want and wait!
I've seen requests for fridge/freezers, washing machines and more.
A year or two back, I posted a request for basin taps, and got a nearly new set!

Thanks TB. I agree that they certainly did have a strong market presence; my early motoring memories include a terrific lubrication/grease chart for my 1938 Morris 12, a big poster which adorned my garage wall! Clever marketing, as I saw it daily.....

A worthwhile clarification, TB; thanks.
What's wrong with Castrol? Way back, it used to be a No.1 brand.

Time to show my woeful ignorance again!
Thanks for the reply; now for the ignorant bit.....
What is/are ABS and how do I join Trade Club - do I need to be in the trade, because I'm not?
How much does ATF cost from them?
Underwoods have a branch in Tiptree, which is nearer to me by at least a gallon, so do you know if they are also part of the scheme?

Carpartssaver are currently offering 5 litres of Dexron III ATF for £18.89, inclusive of VAT and delivery (ebay item No. 290994733693).
Ever willing to save my pension pennies, I am wondering if this is the best deal around, or does anyone know of a better one?
I don't have trade Club, nor do I know how to get one or of any dealers locally who operate the scheme, so for me it's basically retail only.

Are they flat-pack? Or will they fit in the boot/back seat of a MIG? There's an Aldi about 10 miles from me.....

I don't know if it is still being manufactured,. but ages ago I used Gun-Gum, both in bandage and paste form. The bandage you applied wet/damp, if I recall, and wired it on all around the repair, which helps with the "scab" problem that PhilRich mentioned.
As a belt-and-braces approach, I used to apply some paste over the assembly afterwards. Seemed to last well and the MOT man was happy!
