General Discussion Area / Lotus carltons at Brands Hatch
« on: 18 August 2015, 08:24:31 »
ABS was invited to show some LC,s at Brands last weekend as part of the Lotus Festival. Four cars and the supercharged rep on the Saturday and seven and the rep on Sunday. Saturday saw the cars on a very restricted parade lap of the full grand prix circuit while late Sunday had two laps of the indy circuit. One of our members got very bored of the constant 5 mph so jumped out of his car several times to take pictures which had the effect of creating a large gap. From the bottom of druids to the midle of the start finish straight had then become clear so off he took leaveing a number eleven on the track with the rest of us then having to play catch up :y. The cousre car had realised something was up and came flying past us just after the number eleven had been done, trying to then catch a Lotus Carlton being given some beans. As we passedthe back of the pits, many people were hanging over the fence with cameras and all egging us on. Some pictures are on the ABS face ache page of the weekend

General Car Chat / Lotus Carlton 25th birthday event
« on: 30 April 2015, 20:05:00 »
I was lucky enough to be part of the first event planned this year to celebrate the 25th birthday of these iconic cars going on sale. 7 of us met up at the Little Thief on the A12 northbound at Feering. We convoyed up to the Bird In Hand pub, two miles away from the Lotus factory at Hethel, Norfolk. There we joined the other 13 cars and after many photo sessions had lunch and trundles along to the factory. The Official Lotus press photographer got us all into the  places he wanted and took a series of pictures that we will all get to view later. A tour of the factory and then 11 of us had a convoy back down the A11 to The Angel at Larling for an early evening beverage before setting off for home. Lots of people having to do double, triple and quadruple checks :o as we came past one by one  ;D Once we get access to the pics, Malcom should be able to post up as he is far brighter than me :)

General Discussion Area / New road tax rules
« on: 01 December 2014, 19:47:40 »
Here is a good one..... one of our ABS members, James W was invited to display his Police Omega on the ABS stand at the NEC. He visits his local Post Office to tax the car on the 10th. Could not do it online as it threw up error saying reg was invalid. Taxed the car, did the NEC with us, on the 20th, surrenders tax and sorns the car. Gets letter through post from ANPR with intent to prosicute as he went through check point on way home on 16th and they got no tax message. Checked his sorn and the DVLA site had started SORN from 1st November, 9 days before he taxed the car and refunding him the total amount paid :o :o
says he will go to court to contest it as it is DVLA,s cock up
