Is this a myth or have I got one that doesn't work? I've read somwhere that the Elites are fitted with an automatically dimming rear view mirror. I'm a bit confused because I use the rear blind at night and it does the job. There is however a small senser type thing in the rear view mirror but it defo doesn't dim when I get headlights in it.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks.... :)

Nice pun by the way.  ;)

Try it with the blind down.

You should notice the mirror turning greenish when anyone is behind you with their lights on.  :y

I always have my blind up too, and it is far less noticable when it is up.

Hi mate,

When my crank sensor failed I just tie wrapped the new one up the brake lines and next to the ABS module, works a treat and is plenty clear of the manifold, no problems at all bolting it to the lump.

Personally I would have it out and route it the same  :y

The barge's are funny this right, I've just put a list of things right on mine and there are still some things to do, nice and cheap tho!!

Likewise, i done the same without any problems.  :-?

Who knows?!?  ;D

Your car looks great!
Thanks.  :y

Was amazed it still looked so clean when i got to the place i took those pics. It's hard trying to keep it clean with the weather we get up here. It's a standing joke with my neighbours about how often i wash my car. :-/

 Funny 5hit!!

The fuse is out and is staying out for the time being, self levelling offers nothing for me and my car usage...  :y

So what's a funny five hit then?  :y

This has been a woe from day one, the rear sits at different heights, passenger side is lower than drivers - springs are all good, suspension is in excellent nick (replaced around 1.2yrs ago). I've pulled fuse 27 which will stop the unit, will see how that goes.

Now, what happens if I just disconnect the connectors from the rear suspension, will there be any safety issues?

Cheers
If the fuse is still in and you disconnect them the pump will run continually, as evidenced when Jim replaced his self levelling with irmscher shocks. The system will continually run trying to set the correct level.  :-/

Dont know if this should be here or in general chat.

Anyway, i see lots of threads relating to cam cover gaskets, what are the tell tail signs that says they need changing, is it something that is done par for course every so often.
It would be interesting to know what to look for.

 :y :y

The spots of oil all over my drive are also a dead giveaway.  ::)

2.0l four pot?

Sounds like the same problem i had with my Vectra.

Idle Control Valve. Pretty common fault on the Vectra, no reason why the Omega should be any different.

You can clean it out, but replacement is a better bet. A 10 minute job. :y

I'm almost positive i've seen a how2 on this by MrMcB.

I can't seem to find it. It may have been on 'another' forum, somewhere in the past.  :-/

It is quite straightforward, you just need to be carefull whilst doing it so you don't damage anything else.  ;)

Is it the adjuster within the light that is broken?

If so you could try gluing it, but completely replacing the adjuster is a better bet.

If i'm correct, they cannot be bought new, so you'd have to scour the scrap yards to find one.

Problem is getting one that's not broke is rarer than rocking horse poo, just ask Jim.  ::)

Marks_DTM_Calib can do it in Nottingham - see http://theboy.omegaowners.com for prices.

Pity you or Mark aren't coming to the Jockular meet, i'd be up for that.

Climate and Gearbox. Already spoke to Jim about it, that's why i was a bit miffed at missing the lakes meet.  :-[
Bit far for a 2hr meet  :'(

Maybe in the summer then when Jim gets the barbie out of storage.

It'd be worth it then, trust me.  :y
