Having met me, you can only be taking the p1ss.  ::) ;D
I didn't go to school if I could avoid it, left before I was legally allowed to, without a single qualification to my name.

There are those who would disagree with that Ron.  :-X ;D

I think Bigron was trying to say that bunking off doesn't make you a bad bloke.  He never said you aren't a bad bloke for a host of other reasons. :P ;D

Don't you try to get me into trouble, TB!
I spent the best part of the 20 years before my retirement dealing with largely school-damaged teenagers (boys, mainly) who were "challenging", shall we say.
Basically, they were not bad lads, just under-motivated and immature. Given the right incentive - and yes, it was f***ing hard work - they respond and gain useful and relevant qualifications.
THAT is what I meant - Albs obviously hadn't had the right teachers.

Bunking off didnt make me bad. It just made me stupid.  ;D
All those people who have said Im a bad bloke for all those other reasons, just didnt understand me.  :P

Ron your mostly right. Most of the teachers were d1ckheads who I had no respect for. There were a couple of good ones who really did try, but I was determined that they werent going to make progress with me.
I really was a rebel without a clue.  :(

I was probably bright enough to be uni fodder back in the 1980s (before New Labour devalued the Degree to near worthless), but my secondary school was unsuited to me, being quite an unacademic thicko, better suited to reality (the sciences) rather than the dream world (Arts and Literature) that school specialised in.

I think I would have been academically more successful in another school, but I'm not complaining how I turned out. Granted, I can't spell for shit. I struggle to read. And there is so much stuff I don't understand, and even more sadly, have no desire to understand. But I'm content :y

Different strokes for different folks, TB. If we were all the same, how boring!
However, it does mean that it behoves teachers to adapt to whomever they are deaaling with and not try to make one size fit all.
For instance, if you were in my class, Albs, I would relate my lessons to whatever your current interest was and to where you saw (or didn't see) your future needs.

One music teacher tried that Ron. He sussed that I was utterly obsessed with music so pulled me to one side for a chat about it.
I told him he was misinformed and that I actually hated music.
Then the next week he walked into his classroom to find me playing his guitar probably better than he could ever hope to - I know that sounds big headed ,but it was true.
He shook his head, looked bewildered and walked out again.  ;D
See - rebel without a clue.  ::)
Truth be told, there were some very serious problems going on at home which made me an angry teenager who hated the world in general and authority figures in particular.
Of course, you don't realise when your 14, that this is all going to affect the rest of your life. My Dad tried telling me, but he was the last person I was going to listen to at that time.

Understood better than you know, Albs, but I won't expand on that here.
