Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Strange result
« on: 27 January 2018, 15:51:47 »
As mentioned I got a replacement ignition switch for the 3.2, a genuine OE Febi part with the GM logo still visible. the first thing I noticed when I reconnected the battery after fitting the switch was that the radio came straight on, with ignition off, and I did not need to recode the radio??? The battery had been disconnected for a week. I also got a warning tone when the door was opened with key removed although there was nothing switched on or indicators selected. I now have to physically switch the radio off when exiting the car, as it does not go off with the ignition. As a result, I refitted the old switch again to see if it was the same, and it is, radio remains on with key removed unless switched off, although the warning sound has gone with the door open.
Secondly I was unable to synch either key to the new switch, and I am also unable to synch them back to the old switch, now back in. ??? ??? ???
I also have a spanner light on (haven't checked the codes) but I suspect it didn't like me messing with the switch.
Any ideas?

Omega General Help / ignition starter switch
« on: 26 January 2018, 22:26:04 »
Should anyone require a new ignition starter switch, I can recommend http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/aceparts_uk from whom I have now had two. One for the late lamented TD, and one this week for the 3.2. In each case the switch received has been genuine Febi with the GM logo partially erased. :y

General Car Chat / Car sales.... Not
« on: 05 January 2018, 22:42:36 »
I was in the Merc dealer yesterday to find out about the new E class petrol hybrid, and asked the receptionist for a sales rep. "In connection with?" She asked down her nose, (I was in scruff order). "Take a wild guess" says I. Blank look ensued. " Why do people come into a car dealer and ask for sales?" Nope, penny didn't drop. Departure in despair. I doubt she will last long.

General Discussion Area / Samsung Blu ray player doesn't
« on: 14 December 2017, 18:09:58 »
As above, I have the BD-h8500m blu- ray plus freeview recorder. Unsurprisingly, as the warranty has just expired,  the disc tray fails to open. I've tried all the suggestions I can find on t'web, but none specific to this model. Any ideas to resolve this?

General Car Chat / Failure to stop after accident
« on: 16 November 2017, 16:26:04 »
 >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( While I was stopped and pulled in tight to the side of our narrow lane, a horse box scraped the rear OS of SWMBO's Jazz. It didn't stop, but probably didn't look in side mirror to ensure clearance. (Young woman driver.) Reported it to local fuzz shop and just got a reference number. The last time this happened to me, they gave me the owners name and address, and I claimed direct from him, no aggro with insurance etc. I am reluctant to report it to our insurance, as they have a habit of loading you as if it was your fault. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
Can anyone tell me what is likely to happen with this report?
'Bugger all' did I hear someone say? :-\ :y

General Discussion Area / Motorway service access
« on: 27 October 2017, 18:38:47 »
During a chat today the question was posed, is it against the law to use a service road to access motorway services. I used to exit the M1 years ago at the Watford Gap Services using their service road as it saved me a few miles, and was never stopped by the occasionally parked police car.  The signs say "Authorised vehicles only", but is this enshrined in law?

As most of you know I am a techno numpty, so can anyone explain what is going on here. For the last few days, when I go on to google on our iPad, it immediately offers the sites that I have been looking at on my PC. I have not knowingly set up any network between them, so how the h**l does Google/Apple know what I was looking at on the PC? >:( >:( >:(

Omega General Help / Brake discs
« on: 07 October 2017, 17:10:57 »
On clearing out the midden garage, I discovered an unmarked box with two new vented brake discs, 286/7mm dia., in it. I can't recall when, why or where I got them. :-[ Will they fit the rear of my 3.2 Elite saloon?  :-\ :y
