Is there any reason I should not install this on my Samsung smart TV?

Nope. Go for it.  :y

But be aware there are going calls for tighter controls on it, as many use it for illegal streaming.

It depends what you want to use it for?

Which is about as sensible as banning Microsoft Word because you can use it to write libellous articles (you know that, I know, I'm just ranting ;D)

Used to use Kodi myself - though not streaming illegal content over the 'net, because that way, madness lies; I was watching local content. These days I've switched to Plex for the same so I can watch my content anywhere.

Probably spend more time in Netflix watching Prison Break at the moment, though ;D
