Drop a complete 3.2 lump in and swap the sensors for your 2.5 ones... A 3.0 ecu and transponder chip set would finish it off ;)

The other option would be the Z20LET that I have! That could be the longer term plan...

For now I'm keen to keep the 2.5 in there. Just using up the cams I have and checking if there's anything else simple that I should be doing

This week or next I was planning to change the standard cams on my X25XE for four X30XE G cams that I've had in the garage for ages.

While I'm* under the bonnet and elbow-deep, would it be worth changing the exhaust manifolds for those from a Y26SE or Y32SE?
I've read here that they flow a little more freely and I can probably get some for this weekend/next. I'll be changing the cambelt, water pump and tensioner anyway

Opinions are gratefully received  :)

(and if anyone has any other pro tips for getting a little more power from an X25XE which is currently standard, I'm all ears :) )

*This may be someone with more mechanic skills than I have. We will see how it goes

Very nice!

I saw this for sale and wanted it myself but it was gone before I got chance to go for it

Lovely - an Omega with nice wheels and a nice colour is still a seriously good looker!

Just to update anyone who wants it!

It was cranking slowly and so we checked the battery with a multimeter. That was low so I changed it for a brand new one.

The central locking suddenly works perfectly again :)

Yes, I have found with experience that the individual lock solenoids require replacement when that starts to happen.  Whatever you do i the meantime can only be considered a temporary fix. ;)

Thanks, I'll start with greasing the pins then and see where that gets me (as I don't have the solenoids to hand), but I'll be prepared to sort that out :)
Silicon spray :y

Probably a good idea! :)

Sorry all, I'll clarify, I was reporting second hand information and I misunderstood it!

I've checked and it won't properly lock on its own. Two pins will go halfway down and stop there. They all easily go down and lock when pushed down.

Does this sound like a normal lubrication job or am I looking for new ECU or actuators or anything else?

Perhaps silly question but does your central lock work when you use it by turning the key in drivers door.

It all works, it just seems like the locks release slower than they used to. I think I just need to lubricate the mechanism :)

Omega General Help / Reluctant central locking

Hi all!

My locks seem reluctant to open, but are working. However I'd like to catch them before they stop completely. The battery seems good but I won't rule it out

I'm planning to take the door cards off tomorrow and grease the mechanism, however does anybody in the know have any particular tips from experience? Maybe there is something else the matter that isn't obvious to me

I've found a handy guide on here to help me take the door cards off, so that'll be my first chore for the morning.

The car is an S-reg CDX estate, if that makes a difference. I think it's the mini facelift (it has the extra fuse box on top of the battery)

Thank you! Should be easy enough to sort out then :)

Here is what I have. Should there be something else here too?

Omega General Help / Slack throttle cable on 2.5 V6
« on: 20 May 2018, 18:35:48 »
Hi all,

This is the only Omega I've ever driven so just let me know if it's normal and supposed to be like this. There is a lot of travel at the top of the pedal before there is any tension on the cable and you can pull the cable with your finger for around an inch before there is any tension or the throttle moves at all.

Is there a simple way to adjust it or will I have to fit a new cable? Just thought I'd ask for advice before I take anything apart

Update! We got the car and we are very pleased with it! Such a smooth, quiet drive and on my 260 mile journey home I got 37.9mpg according to the trip computer! It's showing half a tank after 260 miles so it has done very well. a lot of 50mph average speed sections  ;D

The timing belt is only 3500 miles and one year old, so that'll stay on it for a while. When it comes to time to change it, I'm toying with putting my X30XE G-cams in it, but I don't need to think about that yet!

The engine was spotless when I arrived to see it and that raised alarm bells but it seems just as spotless now it's home and in dry storage. No sign of any fluids coming out.

The bodywork isn't perfect. There are no dents, but there's a rust spot on a rear quarter and some very badly blended paint on a front wing. Neither need immediate attention, and the car is dry at the moment so one weekend I'll set about rustproofing and maybe a bit of tidying.

I'll grab my phone in a bit and share a few of the pictures I took while collecting it.

I do have some questions about brakes and also the throttle cable (both felt a little slack to me), but maybe they should go in the technical forum?

That’s a real shame Dave. The Carltons and Senators are such good looking, rare cars. Which engine is in yours?

I’m going to collect this tomorrow and I spotted a mk3 Astra yesterday that I think was in the same colour. It looked better than the pictures :)

Any tips? This won’t be my first Vauxhall, but it will be my first Omega
