Far cough, scouse git.  :P
Anyhoo…. getting back to the fireworks. No doubt we would be in trouble if we went around there and shoved their bangers up their arse.
Life just aint fair.  ::)

Apparently it's the biggest display in Europe.8 tonnes of explosives :o Just think what a modern day Guy Fawkes could do with that :-X ;D

According to grandad, when the Germans use to nip over the fireworks were a lot better, and that was more than 8tonnes a night... (He was a fireman)

On the first day of the London Blitz, the 7th September 1940, over 300 tonnes of bombs were dropped by the Luftwaffe on the East London docks and surrounding area.  30,000 tonnes of bombs were dropped by the Germans on Britain during the Blitz from September 1940 to June 1941, with over 40,000 killed  :'( :'(;)

It's a shame we couldn't have a bit more of that German efficiency to remodel the East end again., Would probably upset somebody's human rights.

It is because of German inefficiency, arrogance, and plain stupidity, that they failed to take control of Great Britain, and Russia for that matter.  If the Luftwaffe had continued to bomb the RAF airfields...If the Kriegsmarine had been able to build hundreds more advanced U-boats instead of building obsolete battleships and battle cruisers............. If the German Sixth Army had been allowed to go straight to Moscow and not be split and diverted...........oh, so many "If's" that thank God never happened and has been consigned to counter-factual history!!

No, German arrogance and political dogma over-rode any great efficiency gifts they had.  :y

We'll never know what might have been. For instance, if Adolf had managed to overrun Europe, would the great America experiment have included Berlin as well as Hiroshima and Nagasaki?

Or, would The Man in the High Castle have been a true historical documentary, rather than a work of fiction.

Incidentally, I don't know what the comparison is really like (I wasn't alive 78 years ago), but it sounded like the bloody blitz here from 11:45 to 01:30am, which meant the dog was going mental with fear all that time  >:( and he got to sleep with us (the manipulative little sod ;D).. or, rather, he got to sleep, and we got to be repeatedly kicked out of the bed by his gangly legs!

Yes. I think that's the main reason that I get upset. It was 3 o'clock before our dog finally stopped shaking.

Yeah , well they learned their lesson after two failed attempts to rule Europe ,and beyond, using bombs and bullets .
Now after adopting a more sinister and insidious approach their goal is within grasp via Brussels .

You mean a Fourth Reich sorry, Federation of European [German] States?  Yep, maybe, very possibly as even the French have lost their historical hatred towards the old enemy! :o :o :o ::)

Not a lot wrong with that London, apart from quite a few of the people who live there.  :)
Btw, much of the East end has been remodelled in the last decade. Most of it is now hideously expensive and very trendy.
It weren't like this when Ronnie & Reggie were around.  ;D
