xenon level adjusters. will early ones fit
« on: 04 June 2008, 23:08:59 »

ive fit xenons in my early (1997) omega elite & have managed the wiring ok by using the plugs & short loom from a later car that the lights came out of but the level adjuster wires are totally different due to the xenons normally having self levelling from sensors on the front & rear suspension.
what im wondering is can i fit the level adjusters out of my old standard early lights into the newer xenon lights, thus saving any hassle with the wiring.
i know that it isn't excatly right to have manual adjustment inside the car with xenons but im after an easy fix.
any help will be greatly appreciated  :)

i know you are looking for an easy fix but im sure it is a legal requirement to have the self levelling m8
but well done on the wiring side :y

Legally, thats a no-no.

Perhaps aiming lights down a little further than normal will reduce the chances of getting nicked  :-/

TBH, I would have thought fitting the proper levelling wouldn't be that hard - control unit, couple of sensors etc.

Being an Elite, you should have washer system. Make sure it works well, as HID lighting deteriorates worse than Halogen with even small amounts of grime and dirt.

nice one. thanks everyone. ive just fit the old adjusters into the xenons without a problem, so i can just use the original adjuster wiring.
yes i will adjust them down a bit, they will hopefully still be 100% better than the old ones.
maybe one day i will get round to fitting the self level kit as im still breaking the newer elite for spare so i can get the sensors etc off that ;D.
thanks again :)

If you have working self leveling suspension then you are now fully compliant anyway!

yes my car is an elite estate so it has self levelling as standard & it works well so it shouldn't be a problem
