My old 1999 E39 530d had a fairly basic 3 litre straight 6 diesel, but it pulled and sounded like Deltic train engine and was fairly economical as well.  :y

My old 1999 E39 530d had a fairly basic 3 litre straight 6 diesel, but it pulled and sounded like Deltic train engine and was fairly economical as well.  :y
160+bhp when people people used to get excited about 120... Plus all that luverly straight six torque 8)

About the same bhp as my astra (165) but probably much more torquey.

Yep.. An 18 cylinder one. 8)
with 36 pistons and 3 crankshafts ;-)

I find it hard to get my head around 2 pistons sharing the same cylinder bore.

It's witchcraft. :)
