Manual Gearbox removal

Manual gearbox on a 2.5 V6 - are there any bolts at the top of the bellhousing?

I cannot see any, but box will not come off engine :-[ :-[

From the top is easiest, if its similar to the autobox.  ;)

From below you can feel the heads of the top bolts, but not see them. With my left hand on the bolt head I could guide the extended socket spanner on to it.

Only ever done it from underneath.  Be aware that there are three different sizes of bolt, so be careful how you store them ;)

Also be aware that Haynes barely mentions the plate between gear lever base and gearbox, and the Forum clutch change guide not at all. If left in place you will not remove the gearbox.

Two 13mm bolts to release the plate from the box, plus two spring clips to release the gear lever from the linkage (under the rubber boot), plate and lever stay put, but plate needs a jiggle to raise the front as the box comes out ;)

Thanks guys, that is a real pig! Coundnt get around to 1 bolt because of aircon pipes (V6)

So I decided to drop the subframe, engine and the lot on the floor!

It is out now :y :y :y

Fixed.  :)
Windscreen scuttle panel off would have given access to the bolts from the top.  :o
