New owner with a few questions...
« on: 08 February 2012, 19:50:05 »

Hi

Thanks for the many warm welcomes to this forum :)

Picked finally got my car today, the one from this post:

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=99094.0

Only did a short test-drive when I bought it,
so the drive home was the first decent trip.
I find the car very comfortable to drive, albeit slightly underpowered.
But after driving around in a borrowed Toyota Aygo for over a month,
it is quite a few steps up :P

The plans for the car so far,
if firstly to do some servicing.
I never trust maintenance records,
so for piece of mind its always the first thing I do after buying a car.

I also ordered some window shades like these:

Got a set in my other car and love them.
They snap in covering all the rear windows and make a huge difference in temperature when parking in the sun.
It also allow the rear door windows to be down for added ventilation while still blocking the sun.
As an added bonus, they look cool as well. Not quite as good as tinted windows up close,
but from a distance its hard to tell the difference...

I ordered a parking sensor kit as well, but probably wont bother installing that until its warm enough to
work on the car outside.

Since my car didnt come with one,
I also installed a dog:

Its an aftermarket one, but atleast its german :P

My car also have the NCDC2013 with a GID.
I want to change that for a CID, and also buy some new maps,
as none came with the car.
Feels silly paying for that when I got excellent navigation on my phone,
but since its already in the car I want it to be operational.

Now on to the issues with the car:

Firstly the central locking actuator on the drivers door wont work properly.
It does move, but not enough to lock or unlock, so I have to use the key.
I'll remove the door card and take a look at it soon. Might be just a quick fix.

The sunroof doesnt work at all. Might be a fuse. But since it is winter after all,
I wont bother with that yet.

The things I do have to sort are 2 warning messages:

One is for coolant level when I start the car.
The level is fine, and the temperature gauge, thermostat and so on seem to be working fine as well,
so I suspect a level sensor of some kind to be faulty. Is there one in the expansion bottle?

The second warning is for Xenon self-leveling.
The lights is quite notably at the lowest level, as the high-beams reach about as far as the low-beams usually would.
I assume they do that when this kind of error is detected.
Is there one leveling module for each side, or just a central box?

I do have access to a diagnostic tool. But where would I find the plug for it,
keeping in mind that my car is left hand drive?

ok..

central locking - replace motor (use 2nd hand)

Sunroof - try reset procedure in User Manual

Coolant - Sensor fault, easy solution to replace coolant bottle (about £25 in UK)
