new forest noob
« on: 15 April 2010, 23:41:18 »

Hi, I'm new to this forum and to omegas. Picked my first one up at the weekend and loving it so far. Its a 1999 auto elite estate 130000 miles on the clock but doesnt feel like it has done that many when you drive it. Sketchy recent service history so not sure if cambelt has been done - should i do it anyway? any advice greatly received.
thanks
regards
andy

"Hello" and welcome ...  :)

Cambelts are 40,000 miles or 4 years .. no extensions !!l .. :(   It is not the belt that fails but the tensioners .. they collapse and then the timing goes and the pistons have a very noisy conversation with the valves. Minimum damage is a top end rebuild ... worst case is a lot worse.

So if unsure/unknown it is worth changing
