Newbie Welcome Area / Hi there, new owner of a 2.5 td estate
« on: 21 February 2011, 05:44:48 »
Hi,
I've finally migrated from all sorts of other cars (rover turbo diesel being my last) to an Omega.
I've got a 2.5td select...basic i know but its going to be a load lugger with a bit of RWD fun to boot (excuse the pun!).

Ive always joined the forums for any car i buy because i find the information contained within them so valuable.
I'm a bit of a home mechanic, or i try my best anyway.

Just wanted to know what i should check over on my car seeing as i just bought it.
It's done 112k, and its a manual.

thanks :y

Got a set of 15" omega alloys.

7 x 15 size and 33 offset.

4 tyres on, but 2 are shot from wishbone failure on the front

2 are good though, both Hankook Optimo k415's
1 has about 3mm and the other about 4.5mm.

205/65/15

This is them on my Omega before i replaced them with elites

£35 collected?

I have the cloth estate prefacelift interior I've taken from my car when i chose leather.

Its pretty much mint, Bit dirty on the drivers side, but that was from me manhandling it with mucky paws (oops).

so if any one want it, free to good home lol

Got some tyres that fit the omegas 16's wheels

225/55/16

I've managed to buy a matching set of four for mine, so i've got some left over

i have 2x pirelli p6000 tyres one with 3.5mm tread and the other with about 5mm
1 has had a professional puncture repair. But they both look in good nick.
£30 for the pair

the other one i have is a Bridgestone Turanza ER300 with about 5.5mm tread
This had also had a repair, but is a quality tyre.
£20 for this one

All plus P+P (courier rates are about £7 )

thanks

After a cheap second hand one.
Seeing as a new one is about £35-40....

thanks

Mine is a basic spec one, so no arm rest.
just wondered if anyone has one, as i think it tidies up the front nicely.
And i like to be able to lean on something on the motorway.

thanks

I have some left over items that people may want.

I have two Grey leather door cards from a mini-facelift estate.
Only the Rear ones available.
With all fittings etc. £10 for both plus postage

Also got cloth rear Estate Bench, folding tops and the base. In two tone light grey and Dark grey.
£10

Passenger seat available too. £20

Drivers seat i there but a bit broken as it was removed rather roughly when a bolt rounded its head on me, hence not advertising as a full interior.

I have a set of four 15" alloys
1 really good tyre
1legal but low
2 good tread but worn insides from wishbones (still road legal mind, as they have not gone down to the wire yet and are only worn on the inside shoulder)
£30

pictures coming when i can.

Well i had absolutely no idea what it was worth.....
And now i do, i wont be selling it.
Not worth the hassle and i'll keep it for when mine goes.

thanks guys

I'm going to have to put new tyres on the Omega after i've done the wishbones, so thought i'm make the jump to either 16 or 17 inch ones instead of the standard 15's.

I'll most likely be putting part worns on, hence the suggestion for no tyres too.

I'm not massively fussed on design but i like the large rounded spoke 16's like these:

and i like the 17"s from the elite.

I understand these are popular, so i'm not expecting them to just jump out at me lol.
Have found some on fleabay, but were a touch overpriced IMO.
Will continue to look on there, but if anyone has some can you let me know.

Thanks

Hi,
I know i could buy new, but wanted to know if anyone had any they have removed from their car, or decided to go back to standard or something.

could arrange a swap somehow, a meet up day for swapping over etc.
Would benefit us both.

There would obviously be money involved, i'm not daft lol  ::)

let me know.
thanks

Cars for Sale & wanted / For Sale - Omega 2.5td estate Manual
« on: 22 July 2011, 05:09:37 »
Having thought long and hard about this, and realising that if i had a car that did 50mpg, i could have saved myself £800 in the last 10000 miles (eg, 5 months), I have decided to sell my pride and joy that is the Omega.

I'm asking £995....whether you think this is realistic or not I'm not too worried. I personally think it's worth that, and it owes me a lot more. So there is very little room to budge on that.
I understand this is not the best place to advertise, but i thought i'd give you all the chance to snap up a lovely car if you want it. If not, it is advertised elsewhere and I will find a buyer for sure.

Here is a description:

Taxed till end of September, Mot till October. (will most definitely pass the next one with flying colours)

This car has had a lot of money spent on it in my ownership, and a LOT of time and effort too. Many hours has been spent making this car as good as it can be.

The maintenance things i have done to this car in the last 6 months include:

3x oil and filter changes (every 3500miles without fail)

2x air filter changes

1 fuel filter change and flush

Flushed Radiator and added new coolant. (doesnt use a drop of water)

New Water Pump and Aux Belt.

Wear and tear replacement parts that I have replaced:

New Middle and Back box of the Exhaust.

New tyres all round (dunlop sp sport 9000 on 16" Elite Alloys, 225/55/16)

New rear Subframe bushes
New front wishbones

Modifications to enhance driving experience:

Lowered 35mm on brand new PI lowering springs. (bright red and specific to the 6 Cyl estate, not the 4 cyl as some are).

Chipped to 160bhp.. (aka the +10 chip, or full fat)

Fitted Genuine Omega HID Headlights from a Mini-facelift model. (Have Alu Adjustes fitted on one, and a spare for the other)

Having done all the suspension and bush work, I have taken the car to WHEELS IN MOTION for Full suspension Geometry setup.

Modifications to the Interior:

Fitted Facelift Elite full electric Leather interior. Including door cards. (slight issue with fitting rear door cards due to rear window winders instead of electrics, but this can be easily remedied, i will include the cards for the back).

Fitted the centre Arm rest (previously just had a tray, is missing a blanking plate for the rear of it).

Fitted Quality Kenwood stereo with Ipod direct control via usb and the usual Aux input for 3.5mm headphone sockets as well.

I have tinted the rear windows (not the hatch though) with Limo black tint. Not the best job, but passable. Helps keep the car cool, and was used by me to stop people looking into the rear of the vehicle as i used to store expensive equipment in it at times.

Comes with the genuine rear load cover, a good spare wheel and jack etc.
It's clean and tidy inside.

I love driving this car, It has plenty of go in it.

It's got cruise control also (which i fitted, it was just the addition of the genuine GM cruise stalk. The engine is drive by wire, eg. electronic throttle. So very easy mod to do and well worth it).

I realistically get between 30-44mpg depending on driving conditions.

The bare minimum i have ever achieved was 30mpg, and that was during a spirited a/b road drive up and down through the gears. I have never managed to get any lower.

On a motorway run it will do 40+ mpg if you're sensible.

I'm sure I've probably missed out some bits and bobs.
But best bet is come and look at the car for yourself in the flesh.
She's lovely, and a great pleasure to have owned.

(oh and i've also fitted the sports grill to the front, makes it look more mean!!)

I am unfortunately going to be requiring either a Van like a Doblo JTD, or a Berlingo HDI.

Or, if the right one comes along, a mondeo tdci estate or similar.
Purely for the economy, and the silly amount of miles i seem to be doing at the moment with work.

So if you have any of those, let me know.

Also feel free to ask Q's.

thanks for looking
