I have a 90 3cx on a G plate in my garage.  Think it was the last of the non abs models.  Got a shade over 40 k miles on it.  It’s also on my ‘must get round to looking at it sometime’ list....   ;D

Silver?.....my brother owned a 1989 'G' reg that was silver.

Black and dark blue.  Lighter metallic blue pinstripe on tank.  My mistake. It’s a 3cv, not cx.

If it’s been sitting for a while then the clutch fluid has probably evaporated.....

Seems Admiral are changing reality to suit themselves.  Even DVLA recognise that the v5 registered keeper does not prove ownership!

We bounced around assorted insurance companies over the years for our two cars.  Things got a little muddled between named keepers, owners, primary drivers and the like so we did a consolidation in order to get on the correct side of the small print.

What seemed universal and also echoed my previous trades experiences was the reg keeper/primary driver/other cars use extension.

DOC is far and away only for named policy holder only and for third party only.  Further, the other car must have a stand alone insurance policy in force and not reliant on the DOC driver, thus preventing an uninsured car magically becoming insured because your Harris is in the drivers seat.

In the main, the majority of scrotes I dealt with back in the day relied on this as a get out of jail card.  Watching more current interceptors type telly shows that it’s still a very common misunderstanding.  It is quite expensive and so, rare, to get 3rd party cover on current fully comps.  If you do, at no extra cost, then we’ll done.

Nope. Copper chased me down the M11 for over 3 miles apparently. ::) ;D
Once stopped he read me the riot act. The blood drained from my face and my life flashed before my eyes etc.
I had recently lost my job of 20 years which was 5 minutes from home, and felt lucky to have found another job 17 miles from home;
So, as far as I was concerned I had just blown that and was going to be back on the scrapheap, possibly for evermore.
Once the copper calmed down a bit I told him this, but also that there was no one to blame but myself, so I had to take it on the chin.
I shall never forget what he said after that  - "Look mate, I ride bikes myself and understand the temptations, but you cant go riding at that speed on public roads. This country is shit enough to live in these days, without having your livelyhood taken away from you. If you promise me you will learn a lesson and slow down, I will call it 95 and you get 3 points and £60. Are you happy with that ?"
I was so happy I nearly burst into tears. ::)
I kept my promise for as long as I could, then when I started to weaken, I sold the bike and havent had another one since.
I had a good run of about thirty years, and just about survived. It was time to grow up a bit and quit while I was ahead.  :)

Been there.

Done that....

From the opposite side of your divide.

There is no Police hedge fund or pension pot.  The monies taken today from serving cops as pension contributions get paid out to current pensioners tomorrow.

There is not one brass razzoo paid by HMG into the system.  It’s wholly self funded.

A number of factors, including the massive drop in serving cops, means it is not self sustaining and liable to bankrupt police authorities unless changed.

And so it was changed and ye olde 30 years service and retire was binned.

They now need to pay in a greater percentage for longer, to get less back!

.......which causes more to leave, changing it from a career to a phase of employed life, and, in my opinion, a lowering of standards and reality expectations from both cops and public.

Sorry, but that's complete rubbish. There is NO police pension fund. It is not self funded. It is paid for by tax payers. Same as Teachers, Civil servants, firemen, armed forces etc.

The money paid by serving coppers is (NOW) supposed to be representative of private pension schemes, but in the real world it is no-where near comparible. For a private pension to pay out anything similar to what a public sector pension pays you would have to pay at least double what is deducted from a police-mans salary. They are gold plated, not subject to investment performance, and very very low risk.

Yes there have been changes in the past 10 years or so which means the deductions from the police salaries are now more than they used to be, but these deductions don't come anywhere close to covering the full cost to the tax payer of the pension that will be paid out in future years. But the pension that is built up is still massively better than anything you can build in the private sector.

Let’s agree to disagree....   :)

Iwata for airbrush compressor
Their airbrushes not bad
Harder & Steenbeck the best in model making air brushes

Thanks.

I’m probably going down the diecast refurb route so nothing too precise but want to get it kinda right, kit wise, from the start.  Will investigate further......

I now find myself at a bit of a hiatus as far as hobby’s and pastimes go to fill in my otherwise ‘idle’ time.

Finding that winter is fast approaching looking for something other than decorating the house, yet again.  This furlough thing fairly cut down her ‘to do’ list!

Have a fancy for doing some airbrush type thing.  No, not taking years or pounds of some photographic wannabe but painting model boats, cars, aircraft models and the like.  Might also dabble in cake decoration, who knows!

Anyone on OOF any experience in such things?

Thinking that the compressors available are generic Chinese knockouts and that an onboard tank is preferred rather than a pump to gun, to even out possible pressure variations, despite regulators.

Also, back in my plooky youth, badger was an airbrush name that was often read about in the magazines of the time.  Any newcomers that are worth a look?

Thanks in advance....   :)
