Looked at the readings again presume the fault is in the dash.

All connections under the seat look ok.

How can we tell if it's the seat or in the dash

Omega General Help / Air bag light on
« on: 29 May 2019, 10:17:04 »
I have the air bag light showing on the dashboard.

It's been on and off for years having been a fail on previous MOT's then it's reset passes the MOT and is back on.

With a diagnostics check I have established its a passenger air bag side fault.

I am struggling to upload pictures of the screen shot but the figures are

Drivers airbag squib circuit resistance 2.67 ohms, with the passenger airbag squib resistance at 1.92 ohms.Is the low figure the reason for the fault ?If so any ideas how to rectify ?

I will be able to get the car through the MOT but i would like the problem solved once and for all.

Run some diagnostics on the car and it is showing fault code 49 glow device general error.Does this mean one or more of the glow plugs is not working ?

By the leak off pipe do you mean the canvas striped pipe running by the injectors along the engine?

I did take the black plug off to expose the six wires on the glow plug relay. Will have another look at that.

Quick google search revealed what the leak off pipes are. Will replace them as a possible easy fix.

Have parked it on a downhill slope to see if that had any bearing on fuel leaking back but still wouldn't start easy.Had problems trying to test the ohms reading couldn't get the readings to make any sense.(to me anyhow).

Just a quick update before lunch.Checked all pipes from tank up to engine no obvious leaks.Checked in engine bay no leaks all pipes seem secure  and all nuts tight.Started again after about 20 seconds plenty of white smoke out the back.Drove 200 yards downtime road, stopped switched off waited about 10 mins and started with almost no turn of the key ! and no glow plug light showing before start. Will check the ohms this afternoon.

Checked the service history fuel filter was last changed May 2015 at 38,000 now on 40,000(mileage is correct not been used much last 2 years)Not sure if a genuine filter was used or not.Over half a tank full of fuel.Makes no difference how many times i let the glow plugs go off and on before trying to start will still not start.
However got it to start on Friday afternoon just as the battery was dying after cranking for about 20 seconds, although it had been almost firing up after about ten seconds but just seems to struggle to get over that last hurdle to kick in.
Going to try and check glow plug and relay ohms today and check for any fuel leaks.
Any other suggestions appreciated.
