two days ago I purchased 3 clothing items & was to get a 12% discount. [ thought it was a a UK based shop & i paid through paypal  . my first email from paypal showed the discount but then another email had the total showing no discount but also showed an import tax. my bank statement shows the higher amount pending for debiting .

General Discussion Area / next door neighbour sudden demise
« on: 11 November 2021, 23:32:13 »
my neighbour went to the gym with his son & my grandson , he is 45 & the two lads are 18. whilst my neighbour was on the treadmill he some how twisted his ankle . apparently the next morning he could hardly walk but still drove to work. after about two hours at work he collapsed with a massive heart attack & never survived. the post mortem showed the sprained ankle tuned out to be a big blood clot that travelled up to his heart & had he gone to the hospital there would of  more than likely spotted the problem .

my son drove from york to hampshire last week & his van started to make a loud banging noise as he was driving.he had it  looked at whilst down there & it was deemed to be a right drive shaft so he had a new one fitted. he didn,t use his van whilst down in hampshire but on his way up north the banging appeared again. i suggested it could be a wheel bearing. has anybody got any other ideas. its driving ok ( says my son )  he lives about 35mls from me so not able to have a look as yet.
update,  o/s front spring & o/s front wheel bearing. being seen to on monday.
sorted spring & wheel bearing replaced. probably a wrong diagnosis down in Hampshire as the noise was still there when they replaced the driveshaft,

the right honourable Rishi Sunak has had planning permission for work to be done on a stately home near Northallerton that he has purchased .
the sum he actually paid for the property i believe hasn,t been disclosed but the cost of the refurbishment is estimated to be £1.5 million .
but an interior swimming pool is included in the price

Next time it does it get him to check if a wheel is getting hot, a binding brake will heat and warp the disc and cause the banging which will go away once cool.
took it for a longish drive yesterday. i did not think that it was a bang i thought it was like a very noisy fan. a continuous loud whirring sound. all i could see was the o/s front spring rubber buffer is perished , it instead of being underneath the bottom coil part of it was above the coil that it should be above. no idea how thats happened. nothing at all was hot, wheel bearings seemed ok .no play on either side. anyhow got it into a workshop on friday.

Without teaching your Granny to suck eggs.....'a loud banging whilst driving' could be an absolute multitude of things. Without hearing it or driving the vehicle, you ideally a lot more information is needed for anyone to give an indication of what may be the problem. Speed related? type of road surface? cornering?, type of 'banging'? (although descriptions differ greatly with different people), specific area on the car? are surely some of the basics that need answering before anyone can even start to suggest what may be the problem.
agreed totally, i know but what i gather he has no idea in what to look for. if i look at steering. play on wheels , shock absorbers i may be able to point him into the right direction. he did mention the faster he went the banging although still apparent seemed to subside. this renault kangoo will only do 60mph. speed governed i surmise.

General Discussion Area / Re: Heat pumps
« on: 19 October 2021, 13:42:37 »
has anybody have heating sourced by a heat pump ?
why i asked is as an experiment nearly 4 yrs ago my bungalow was one of 6 that had our oil systems replaced & heat pump systems installed. they are all mitsubushi pumps & out of the 6 , 4 have malfunctioned & had to be renewed. before it was installed all the old cavity wall insulation was sucked out & reinstalled.all rads had to be replaced .  the heating is supposed to maintain a constant temperature but doesn,t  also what I have found is there is no instant hot water hence gallons of water is wasted when hot water is needed. also my electric bills have more than doubled but its my only source of power. i would swap it for a combi boiler system tomorrow if i could

i see the drivers affected by the actions of the idiots took it on their selves  to remove them, does anybody remember Thatcher allowing the police to remove their numbers and charge into men, women & children with batons , horses . no pc49 or such meant no id,s. get tougher with this lot . eventually some body will lose their rag & mow them down.

how do they travel to the protest locations, if its via a vehicle of some sorts sabotaging their transport would probably be a deterrent
