Yep top one is petrol blue (same as mine) and it comes out quite different dependent on lighting.

I would attach an image but I can't figure out how to do it.

I remember doing mine many years ago on my first Omega, it was an absolute pain!

In the end I bent the air-con pipes out of the way.....it never did work properly anyway.

It gave me just enough room to get the alternator out.

But yep taking the inlet manifold off is easy if you want to go that way.

I would love it but York is a bit of a run from the sunny Sussex.

Your right it does seem a bit of a waste and you must be like me as I hate throwing away perfectly usable stuff!

hello Magwheels Is that the correct part no. The switch looks different to ones I have had in the past..

Which ones have you used?

Yep. They are the one's I have always used. Direct replacement for the originals but without the pegs and as mentioned they are not needed anyway. I haven't found any higher ampage ones that will fit or else I would have tried one of those for better reliability.

Microswitches are £3 something at RS with free delivery at the moment. Just had mine delivered as one getting temperamental and worth getting two if free delivery as its not always free. Takes about half an hour to do if not done it before and that is start to finish including taking the door lock motor out.

SPDT-NO/NC Button Microswitch, 10.1 A @ 250 V ac
Stock no.:290-0463

I take it the permanent live is working? Can you turn the radio on without turning on the ignition?

Got mine from SC Motor factors in Tunbridge Wells but as its been on there for some time I can't remember the brand. About 70 quid I think.

Of course they are, it's a modern classic! :)

Which translates as an old car that I'm deluding myself might be worth something before I die

Or you could repair your own

The old parts in a homemade jig:

Filled with about £3 of urethane:

And the finished part before I bolted it back on the car:

The jig was made out of scrap, but bolts together to allow the repair of two mounts simultaneously. I would add some black pigment to the material, and blast the metal components if I cared about appearances ;)

How are these lasting?

Mine have seen better days and am thinking of refurbing using the polyurethane.  If still good what type of urethane did you use as you can get different hardness ratings and don't fancy any thing to hard as it will affect the ride. I would rather waft than race!!

The main thing of course is have they stood the test of time?

Mine only seem to last a couple of years, easy enough to change but a nuisance none the less.

Has anybody found an uprated micro switch for these that fit or are more reliable?
