Omega General Help / Re: All done but still no heat.AHH

there is also a potential issue where the little operating levers at the side of the heater box can pop off the operating motors .these levers open and close the flaps.both mine had become detached .

Omega General Help / Re: Accelera Tyres
« on: 01 January 2020, 14:59:11 »
My old BCTs were on my car for 6 years. It’s true that my annual mileage is only around 7k miles but when I replaced them last year they still had 7mm tread on  ::)
thats the ones ! yes remember now.   must be very hard compound.receipt for 30,000 miles ago and still had good tread but cracking between.goodyears are way softer so keep an eye out for them and stock up as they appear !    ( like everything else ! ! )

these tyre choices are usually a very personal thing depending on what you want.
my mate is a taxi driver and does a lot of mileage,he rents the car from base and they usually fit the longest lasting hardest tyre to save money whereas i dont do a lot of mileage per car so i want the softest comfiest tyres i can find as longevity of tread wear is not a consideration .
my personal taste is goodyear and my omega has efficient grips which i find excellent.
it did have some budget tyres on when i got it which were very hard and apoeared to have lasted nearly 30,000 with good tread still on. they would have lasted me forever ! lol
forget the make now thou

and that means.....
goodmorning have you got this piece of plastic trim please?   guy says yes and goes to get it. brings it back with all its clips smashed off cos theyve just ripped it off.
will this do he says. !!!!!!!
there are still a few yards around here that let you in but they give you a high vis and you have to wear safety boots but this will get less and less in the coming years

anyone who plans on keeping theirs forever will soon have to start thinking hard about these sorts of things. in years to come parts will get harder to find .basic service items will more or less always be around but more model specific stuff will get rarer.trim pieces, certain sensors ,control boxes etc.
ive thrown many stuff away years ago for cavs and vivas that are nigh on impossible to find now.

The rpm may well drop with the belts attached and alternator working as the extra load would make the alternator work harder       But.   That's one of the jobs of the icv.to bring the speed back up to the set level.( ideally quick enough so as not to notice it)(maybee with the icv connector unplugged it may show more ?)
With the belts off nothing should realy happen unless the battery is very low as there wouldn't be any physical loading anywhere.

Absolutely .!
20mm play here is a huge amount and will need rectyfiing first. Cannot see how this was missed at the mot test !
The usual pull one way ,steering wheel flick opposite is normally bushes but this arm needs sorting first ?

its probably just bad luck that someone has had so many issues with ebay. things can go wrong but all just been bad coincidences.which would put you off using ebay if it happened a lot.
personally i find it a fantastic place. every single thing i need for my cars, my house and various bits for work have come from ebay. its been years since i ever went in a motor shop or diy shop.and for unusual or rare/obsolete items every thing eventually pops up on ebay .a few clicks and in a few days it arrives. perfect.
if im planning a job on a car at the weekend id look for the bits at beggining of week and they usually are here by weekend.
yes ive had a few things not turn up and had to open up a few disputes ( maybee half a dozen in the 10 or so years )but the good outweighs the bad by a large margin

throretically thats a bit low however its cold weather at the moment and if it spins over fast i wouldnt worry too much about it.
i bet if you disconnected battery overnight it would still be similar voltage in the morning .
its something related to the idling running rather than it cutting out if you were on a motorway at a constant 70 all day long so that should eliminate fuel or many other issues.
same symptoms  as a car with a carburettor having a blocked idling jet .will run forever at any engine speed other than idle.
keep at it !

hi. from what i can remember when i changed my brothers 2.5 coil last year i did find an abnomality with a test meter.
the input connector has 4 pins.one of them is a common( one of the end ones !) and should have 3 equal resistances in turn to the other 3 pins.  mine did ..   this is the primary side and will most likely be ok.
the secondaries are in pairs and i seem to remember there being a circuit(albeit very low resistance)between two sets of studs but nothing on the others .or it could have been to the connector common and one output was missing .either way something stood out as being different or missing on one of the output studs .
the new replacement coil was checked in the same way and gave equal readings to all the studs as it should.
so your coil may be intermittently breaking down or tracking which may well test ok with a test meter but if you find a major abnomality like i did then you know for sure.
mine was missing on cylinder 3 only. no spark was coming out of it even thou the other correponding output was working.

its worth a try because the icv has no impact on the quality of the idling speed ( a very slow idle may not be smooth on every engine depending on its basic condition)all it does is let air through as required to maintain a set idling speed. if the icv was stuck or sticky it just may not regulate it accurately .
its actually a motor inside with brushes and a comm so they can eventually wear out electrically not just get gummed up.also when cleaning them try to do it with the body upwards to prevent large amounts of cleaning stuff to get inside the actual motor. the shaft will have some kind of seal internally but can be harmed if soaked in some types of solvent.
also the wires/ terminals in the connector can sometimes slip back into the plug .they have done so on my jetronic system and touched each other under the rubber boot causing instant engine stall and damage to the idle control unit.(carlton 2.2)
you should see the terminals in the end all sat nice and level if theyre ok

so if im reading correctly car stalls at junctions( in other words when required to idle or as revs are falling) but would happily drive at a constant speed all day long with no issues.?
if this is the case it does eliminate lots of things but would point to something connected to idling only such as icv or throttle stop.
also are the throttle plates nice and clean rather than gunked up.?
if the system works in a similar way to the older jetronic then with the idle valve pipe squeezed closed the revs would drop  very low but the engine would still keep running.
the icv then brings it up to the correct speed via letting air bypass the throttle.
my 2.6 doesnt have this valve and my brothers 2.5 is not here to test it on so i cant give you any presise values at the moment to check.

that suggestion would be the first to try .to at least get it open but it does sound like either the cable outer has slipped ( i assume its clamped near the catch in the conventional manner) or the lever has popped out of its pivot point.

reading through this with interest and if ive missed it i apologise but does the car ever stall or die whilst you are actually driving or just when you let the revs drop?.ie only cuts out at idle.
this would suggest fuel system, crank sensor ,relays etc are all fine and i would be looking at the idle control valve or its connector.this would also explain the poor starting as the revs could be held too low.have you tried a cold start with a tiny bit of throttle ?.also disregarding the actual throttle cable has anyone ever messed with the stop screw or has it worked loose.
