Might I be so bold as to suggest you stop and think for a moment...

The sale of items such as the OOF stickers, T shirts and cambelt dvds all help to pay for the FREE TO USE Forum and all the data available on it.

None of the admins are paid for their troubles, and the servers hosting the site all belong to/are managed by the admins. Blatantly bypassing a funding source, however insignificant it might seem, or however well intentioned you might be, isn't on imho.

I don't want to get involved in the technicalities, but I don't like members falling out over trivialities.
Can I make a suggestion....if we have no supplies, and this chap can do them, especially if cheap or better if free......can't we get them, and then sell them to members from our shop.
Saves pressure on TB.
Just a thought, and remember, I don't want to tread on toes.
As a footnote, I have a sticker still sat on the back seat of the saloon. However, my belly restricts my movement to be able to put it in the rear window ;D ;D

My post was merely intended to highlight why the OOF shop exists. It's all too easy to take free to access things for granted, especially when it is such a valuable resource, and as Tescos always says, every little helps. ;)

Not having a pop at anyone, and I'm sure nobody else is either.

I'm afraid we do not allow anybody to get merchandise made up, as the OOF shop is our only source of funding, which helps the admins from having to dig too deeply into their own pockets to run OOF.

Running a site like this does not come for free, and TBH the shop barely covers the day-to-day running.  Major upgrades are covered by your generous admin team (along with the current alarming number of failed tapes recently!).

I hope that explains why the shop is the only source of OOF material that can be bought :)

As to the stickers we do have in stock, they need to be sorted, as I think its fair to say that most are seconds - either grubby, creased etc etc for all the various meets they have been dragged to.  Sadly, because I seem to lead such a chaotic, "interesting" life, its something that hasn't got done yet because I have too many other priorities away from OOF.

To overcome this, we are looking at getting more made up, which will probably be quicker and easier than waiting for me to sort what we have. Watch this space :)

Whilst it might be convenient and quicker to purchase from ebay or elsewhere .. it does rob OOF of income......   just something to consider on this totally free (but has to paid for somehow) site ..   :-X

I'll second that.

And yes if there's a 'hooky' source of OOF stickers then all self respecting OOFers should be giving it a wide berth, as it's someone making money out of the hard work that TB and his merry band put into this site.  ::)

If I were to buy any OOF related merchandise then it would certainly be from OOF shop, not only for good of forum but also you're then sure that you're not buying inferior cheap tat as the proper OOF stuff will have been checked for quality.

It's the principal of it... Copyright infringement notwithstanding. The purpose of the OOF shop was made clear, yet still you felt it necessary to ignore all that to please yourself.

Would it be prudent to remind you that TheBoy gave up over an hour of his evening off to fix one of the servers last night? Who pays for that? If you cannot grasp the implications of that commitment, then this probably isn't the forum for you.

May be you should think less of yourself and more of the people who spend their spare time keeping this site running for all the OOFers out there and support the site by not buying ebay crap >:(

Not people who want to buy stickers.. because they can't (and haven't been able to for a couple of years, no?).. sooo..

TB eschews donations when offered, as well.. (I think he does it because he loves the abuse, personally)

If it helps any (and I appreciate it's not for the want of ideas, but actually the time the admins would have to put into such an exercise, time which they have precious little of) however, there's a cracking print/copy centre literally across the road from my work, on the market. They do very good quality mugs, personalised to whatever you want. I'm a Graphic Designer by trade, so for about a tenner or so each there's room for a run of OOF mugs.

Own one printed by them that's been in weekly use for about a year, and has no sign of wear whatsoever, it's not the cheaper mug printing that you can pick off with a fingernail.  :)

What about asking for a volunteer to run the shop - only - thus removing pressure from TB, and allowing said 'volunteer' to look for the best deal, and maybe introduce new lines ( see DBG's mug above) thus bringing in more income to defray admin expenses?

Oh dearie me, I hope you lot are using protection because Tb must be getting pretty sore by now  ::)
I do hope his missus understands  :D :D

As for the OOF shop, its obvious that things need to change here.
Tb and admin chums have always said that this forum is for the members and as such, ALL serious suggestions are welcome  :)

If Tubs and the rest of the admin (for whatever reason  :)) can't find the time to stock / run the online shop, can other members skills / contacts be utilised here ?
Geezer has offered his services for starters and if I can help, I will  :)

Shame over a car sticker, I can see we all need to support the Admins for the fantastic forum but if you can't buy the thing in the OOF shop then maybe not a massive crime? A sticker tax perhaps, if you source your own a small 'royalty' to the forum admins.

If somebody knows of a good, cheap place to get stickers made up, please PM me ;), as our supplier is no longer suitable.

I'm not looking for the £2 per sticker ebay shite.  OOF needs to make a decent profit.  This isn't profit for the admins - they get break all out of anything - its for OOF.

In the old days, folks did find the offers - DLK came up with the tax disk holders, Timbuk with the first set of stickers and so on.

Why are we so protective over OOF merchandise?

Our turnover from the shop in 2015 is a little over £50. I won't state profit figures as that's confidential, but you can easily assume its far, far less than that.  That won't even get close to paying for the images hosting for the year.  In the last few days, I have spent well over £500 out of my own pocket in order to sure up the current, poorly server. And that's just a stopgap.

It is against our ethos to accept donations or commission based sellers (despite what gixer might have thought), and I really don't want those annoying inline ads that slow pages down and often carry semi legitimate nasties.  The shop is OOF's sole source of income, and obviously the more income via the shop, the less the admins have to personally shell out (which obviously isn't a bottomless pit).
