Selling up , bye bye 20 CDi bank transfer ?
« on: 16 May 2018, 17:10:12 »

Hopefully i can pick a few brains on here,
As your probably aware , i brought my omega because i have to swap to an automatic
I hate automatics and think it's the devils work  ;D but i have no choice as my ankle/knee is knackered due to an old injury.
listed my carlton on ebay , got messes about, buyer said his brother bid and could not be contacted.
I now have an offer to sell to northern Ireland ,yes i know , going to be ragged to within an ich of it's life but the seller assures me he is a collector and has many retro cars
is it safe to get a bank transfer off the buyer ?
he's arranging collection via transporter lorry
is there any credit card claw back issues or legal implications if i sell and accept bank transfer ?
(northern ireland is still the uk apparently ,so no export duty ?
I just want to do things legally , keep my 100% feedback, not have problems
thanks in advance  :y

Cash or Cleared Funds Bank Transfer should be fine, but if someone is out to Con you they will find a way.

NI is part of UK but not GB, so the Car will be exported to NI DVLA, thats the Buyers Problem and not yours, just make sure that you are not asked to pay for any Transport Costs in way and that Your Bill of Sale states Terms of Sale is "Cash on Collection", just in case you get chased for Export or Re registration Fees.

The V5 is the same as any Sale, fill out section 6,8 and 10, but it used to be (and you may want to check this) that the whole of the V5 including the "New Keepers Supplement" is given to the Buyer and you need to confirm in Writing (poss Online these Days) to the DVLA that your have sold the Car to someone in NI.

EDit As per any Document to do with the DLVA, take a photo Copy or Picture of all the signed Forms.

I dont think it will tell you much, just a load of blurb about Exporting etc, the Log Book has UK stamped on the Front a swell as EU, but that doesnt mean Jack.

You need to search ether DVLA or NI DVLA they are different and have different rules on this sort of stuff, as said giving the Whole Log Book to the New Keeper was how it used to be it may have changed these days.

1st ensure you have the money, when the buyer arrives, or ask for hard cash.

2nd fill out V5 as normal, then fill out the export section, then go online and fill out the same.

3rd wave goodbye,and count money.

Not sure you need to fill out the export section if its going to Norn Irn ?
I don't think its likely that a 2.0 is being bought to be thrashed. There are some very serious car collectors / Vauxhall fans in Norn Irn, and its probably being bought by one of those.
I heard about a VX collector there recently who has an almost complete collection of competition Vauxhalls, who is completing the collection by building e replica Baby Bertha, from the original drawings !

Well , I can find very little info about what to do with the log book on either dvla site
when i brought the 2.6 ,the seller did it online after i filled the log book in ,he kept big front bit to send off , i had new keep supplement slip , I was shocked that a couple of days later the new v5 came  :o   :)
We set up a separate bank account to pay into on this transaction and buyer has the need to know details,
he's arranging collection sometime next week via transporter (which won't be cheap for him)
so tomorrow , I will be going to WAKE UP the Omega (lazy lard arse has been "resting" since paint n panels back in april)
at the in-laws and hopefully start using it ,park up the carlton ready for collection next week
payment should land in the account soon  8)

You could be right, had multiple offers to buy the ATS wheels (original vauxhall cross spokes) which was included with the car via messages  ::) , I told the buyer of the carlton ,said if he wanted ,i would let let them be collected from me if HE wants he details of buyers and he lists them ,seems he wants them himself  ;)

DONT Fill out the Export Section, your end end in all sorts of mess, your Selling the Vehicle not Exporting it.

Your'll need to do something like I suggested in my ist Post, you just need to ensure they haven't changed the Rules since changing the Log Books from Red to Blue now.

Yes , got it thanks  :y
I  have the red and the blue v5 s
one says don't fill in export section if taking to Northern Ireland, we do not regard this as export  :y

so ,i'll do it online, and give the buyer the newer v5c complete and filled in/signed(keep a photocopy)
and if i get a confirmation email , i'm all good  :)
if not, i'll write to dvla a signed declaration of sale

When the fella rings to say "his transport is collecting". MAKE sure you ask what SIZE transporter,, because I will bet it will be a full size 9-11 car truck, and if you live in a little street, you don't want him trying to get that down there..

You may need to arrange a suitable collection point.

Good point
I looked at that this morning , the road through the estate is 7.5 tonne but has that nice "except for access" sign under  :y
so i just need to drive to the end of the street , onto the main trough road
a multi deck transporter probably could turn at the end of the side road , but , no point in making things hard  :)

Not good enough, you need to be 100% sure that a LARGE truck can get in and out safely, hence my suggestion of arrange to meet the transport, eg industrial estate, also low bridges etc.

The old saying I've heard to often when going somewhere is "we've had bigger lorries than that in ere"

hence i said i can drive the car to the end of the side road , to the transporter which can remain on the main through road to avoid not making it hard  :y
a through road that links A444 and A511
i'd imagine transport companys have a YTS kid to check such matters  ;D

Try it Online  :-\ although it might not pick your selling outside of GB, as said used to be you had to Declare in Writing with a Signature by letter.

which i can't do right now .....
1: payment not cleared
2: if driving up the side road TO the transporter ,i will need tax, insurance
(which ceases the second i transfer )
though I'm sure it's in the highway code about vehicles doing less than 3 miles per year on roads  don't need tax
but i don't want to risk that , no doubt , with my luck , i'd be surrounded by all the police, swat teams ,SO19 etc
the second i drove off the drive  ;D
