locking nuts
« on: 13 October 2018, 21:47:35 »

I let my local garage do a pair of wishbones. my front n/s locking nut has been swapped for a different type. I presume somebody is driving around with an odd one.  ::) :y

Why are you still using locking nuts?

Pointless things just make a job harder.  :-\

wheel theft is on the increase again  >:(
and a set of decent tyres won't leave you much change out of £500 ,let alone the hassle and cost of finding replacement wheels . :'(
if you have locking wheel nuts, use them ,
anything to slow down or deter the thieving scumbags
(apparently you can't shoot or stab them anymore  :-\ due to some new law? )
just remember to check you have the locking tool back if you have garages / tyre fitters do work   :y

You forget that GM locking nuts are so utter crap that the only people who can get them off are the scrotes.

A locking wheelnut will not slow them down.

(Can't remember the last time I got a set (of 4) tyres for £500 :()

Completely disagree. They are soft as cheese, garages spin them up to 1,000,000 Nm of torque and are an utter pain to remove.

No one wants Vauxhall alloys, especially 16/17's the world is now 18/19/20 for popular nickable ones.

Also as TB says, they are useless and won't slow anyone down who really wants them.

So harder to steal !!!!

harder for scum to steal then  ;D
so don't let the garage do work if they don't know how to do up a nut , or find a garage that torque to sensible amount and double check they have and given you the locking adapter back .
No one wants Vauxhall alloys, especially 16/17's the world is now 18/19/20 for popular nickable ones.

16 and 17 inch tyres fit many cars ,even new ones ,and there is a massive market for part worn ,not everyone buys brand new tyres ,alloys sell on ebay etc even 16" (because they fit astra, zafira, etc etc and even have scrap value if mullered being removed during theft.
maybe you have a better class of thieving scumbag near you  :-\, but ,in many parts of the country , a set of 16" alloys with good tyres are worth robbing
won't slow anyone down who really wants them.
won't stop a determined thief, but WILL slow one down, deter them  ;)

Scousers are the salt of the Earth. Can't imagine anyone from Liverpool taking something that doesn't belong to them. :)
