Your teachers had cars :o Or as my son once asked me when he was about 5yrs old"Did they have cars when you were alive dad?" :D
I can only recall 3 cars from my Comprehensive schooldays. The headmaster had a Ford Zephyr convertible in pale blue with a white roof[and he wore driving gloves!!]Maths teacher had a "sit up and beg"Ford Poplar and science teacher had a Ford 100E[both had I believe the 1172cc sidevalve engine]

I know they do a free "courtesy check" shortly after the customer has taken delivery of a new car.But yes checking of lights/levels and tyre pressures is hardly rocket science, although if they're anything like my dad used to be they won't even know where the bonnet release catch is!

From the footage shown on the news this morning they chucked it on a pallet out the back of a transport aircraft. Was this just footage of a test drop during development or do they not have a bomber capable of carrying/delivering it?Apparently they killed 36 IS fighters with it which I suppose could be counted as a bonus as I believe the main idea was to blow the tunnels they use.

I wouldn't think the tester would check that. The main problem would be that the lack of a dust boot can lead to the brake piston seizing[even if only partially]and causing an imbalance in the braking performance.

« on: 13 April 2017, 19:49:13 »
There's an advert on tv about checking your vehicle before setting off on a journey.Well today a chap went to the local Ford dealers and asked them to do a "pre long distance safety check" :o They did tell him there would be a charge for this and asked if there was anything about the car which was concerning him[rough running/warning lights/messages etc]he said no it seemed all fine he just wanted it safety checked before going on holiday in it.Anyway they did it for him[don't know the cost]It was a '16 plate Mondeo. So the advert must to working to some extent!

Although I've had a few small cars I've always preffered big cars, which for me means having a big engine to pull it.I'm not bothered about the 0-60 sprint time nor the ultimate top speed, just a nice easy comfy cruise with enough power in reserve when/if needed.Given the mileage I do [less now than previously]fuel consumption is totally irrelevant to me.but as Tilbo says it's each to their own.
