Got another 12 months on the Battlebus.

Discovered that exhaust will need some love soon.

Congratulations on the MOT pass  :)

few weeks ago I had to replace the exhaust on the Zafira A tractor
the flange where the donut on mid section meets the back box had rotted away, the rest of the mid looked good
I had new old stock, genuine GM mid and back box in stock (£25 when Vaux where clearing their stock  :) )
so ,usual story, p155ing down with rain ,lying under a car  ::) about 10 tight rubber hangers to remove ,didn't have my grinder to cut the mid section from the cat (17 years of being joined together  :( ) got it all off in the end  :)
new mid section did not have a clamp like the original  :(  (so that was a trip to Halfrauds )
smeared exhaust paste on the rear flange, fitted the donut offered the back box up , wrong  :'(
think it's an astra G estate back box  :( years have past since I got the exhaust sections and £25 was still a bargain for the mid box alone .
so i fitted the original back box  ;D
the outer shell had pretty much rotted away but the inner shell was still pretty good and no leaks ,so f*** it  :D

In hindsight ,I should have cut the flange out and replaced it with a flexi or repair sleeve with clamps  ::)

Hope your repair goes better  ;)

Struggling to get a branded non Timax Bosal mid section for sensible money. Everywhere I've called is blaming Brexit, due to most exhausts seemingly coming out of the Fatherland.

So might leave it a couple of months, and then see whats about, assuming it hasn't fallen off.  If its still difficult to get one for sensible money, maybe cutting out the joint and sleeving is an option - good thinking DtB :y

Mid section has about 6 hangers so won't fall off in a hurry   :)
back section has about 3 or 4 ,though the metal hangers rot off where they are welded to the clamshell  :(
2 sizes of donut ring gasket(mid to backbox)  ,depending on system  :(
2 special bolts with an odd thread size to compress the flange springs ,I drill out the threads on the mid box flange and replace with normal nut and bolts .

sleeving would be much easier if it's the same problem ,(mid box rear flange fail  )  :)

Which is why I changed the Backbox a couple of years back

Sounds like it - the flange bit on mid section has disintegrated

Bought a new headlight for the Battlebus, so save the inconvenience of taking it for a long drive with no main beam bulb in, in order to dry it out.  As a special treat for getting an MOT.

surely a small fire/gas explosion in the old headlight would have evaporated any moisture   :-\
a new headlight is a bit spendy  :o

No, not supercharging. Got a pair of 243 6 litre heads which as standard have bigger valves and a bit more compresion , getting flowed and port matched. Also have aquired a Howard cam so tentativly looking at an extra 100 bhp with that lot once its mapped to suit

Supercharger? A pair of turbos is cheaper which is just as well, because they'll be making somewhere between 1000 and 1500hp. Which will mean spending some serious cash on the gearbox, back axle, brakes, petrol and driving licences :y
