my phone has died
« on: 19 May 2020, 10:45:15 »

It's a Samsung S6 & though I've had it a while now and the battery life could be better it's done what I wanted to.
It was on charge all last night, used it this morning to check on something with the bank, put it in my pocket when I walked the Mutt. Took it out to look while walking & the screen was blank .... thought maybe the battery had died but nothing when on charge at home.
Obviously nothing was backed up ......   :-[ :-[ :-[

What are the chances of recovering stuff off it?  :-\ :-\ :-\

first, a lot may be already backed up to google so when you sign into a new phone with your google account (assuming you have one?) then a lot may just appear.
second, depends whats died...can you connect it to pc?  does it do anything?  or have an adaptor to screen mirror to tv - may just be broken display.

Firstly my condolences on for your loss :)

As KW said, if when you set the phone up you created a Google or Samsung account it should be backed up there and when you get another phone, just log into either or and it should dump everything on to your new phone, you can check if you have a Google account on a laptop, by signing in everything should be there...

Also try using a wall charger directly into the phone as these delivery better volts into the battery. Than wireless charging.

It's a Samsung S6 .......

The exact same thing happened to my S6, and I never got it going again. It was working perfect, I put it on charge (it was still on and functioning fine), I took it off charge and it was dead. It won't even try to switch on. I still have it actually, not that that helps at all.  ;D
I had backed up/saved my photos to my laptop and when I purchased a new phone I found out that my contacts etc. had all been hiding on a cloud somewhere, and they all came back home to me to be on my new phone.  ::) :)

Other option maybe to connect an HDMI adaptor to the phone, and plug into TV, could be working, but you cant see it.
Depends if its alive.

If it should be set to ring out loud, or vibrate, ring it from another phone and see what it does to work out how dead it is.
