I've only seen the promotional video for them, Fronius I think it was. Be interesting to see how you get on with it as it's truly stand-alone portable. It will even fit in your car boot for homers.

I only saw it for the first time today ... still tucked up in its box/case. It'll be great for welding out & about in the factory as at the moment it takes longer to find a working 415v socket within range of what you want to weld ..... 90 mins set up time & 5 mins welding 

I think we'd need a note signed by the Pope to be allowed to take it off site! 

9 pm on Tues BBC 2 ... Inside the Factory & you'll see what a sh1t hoe a 'Blue Chip Co' is like ..... though I'm sure they found some nice shiny newer bits to film

There used to be a rather crappy solenoid type one that worked off a car battery, completely useless.

Nice bit of kit the Fronius welder, I think they quote it being able to weld 5 or 6 3mm rods on a single charge.

I'll have a look at what make this one is when I'm back in work at the wk end .. nothing like as heavy as you'd expect

I think a mate of mine had a welding set that was supposed to use 2 or 3 car batteries in series years ago. Just looked like a couple of jump leads connected to a stick welder.

I never saw it in action but it seemed like an excellent way to get yourself showered in battery acid to me.

I used this set over the week end. It is Fronius.

All I can say is it's bloody fantastic! Clip the 'earth' to the job, put a rod in the holder, switch it on, a couple of 3 or 4 sec welds.
Job jobbed!

That can only be a good thing if all the sockets are as well wired ass the earlier example...

It certainly will. I spent a couple of hours the other week trying to find either a working 110v or 415v socket near enough to where I wanted to weld. Then less than 5 mins welding.
